Today I went opposite direction, crossing Brana to Kotliči some gullies snowed over, winter gear necessary. Same over Turski žleb if returning there from Turska gora.

Really winter conditions but only kotliči and bottomless barrel (lots of rotten snow, winter gear doesn't help you). Just enough that we turned back...

yesterday through Turski gully went without problem... without winter gear, nice and slow on ledges and chimneys. below summit there's still a snow patch, but it's not problematic

Yesterday from Brana (on the way from Okrešelj up) it looked like Kotliči are completely dry.

In the gully on the climbing route no snow. At the exit from the gully neither. Just nasty, nasty scree slope that requires a lot of caution.

Which route is less "airy", through the gully or over the bottomless barrel?

Over Kotliče is harder. In the gully it's not really exposed. Sure you're in "air", but only a few meters high.

Yesterday with an excellent group of scouts from Maribor, after I first correctly directed them over Žmavčarje, we headed to the new bivouac. There were indescribably many cars, parked from the Hut in Kamniška Bistrica to the last boulder in the clearing at Konc, like on a holiday. Start was late, as I watched the songs for the 80th anniversary of composer Jure Robežnik on Saturday. The path over Žmavčarje already looked much more trodden than usual. The initial forest ascent could be eased by authorities by removing four thick fallen beeches on the path. Morning hours were still crystal clear, later around 11am it closed with south wind and thick fog, which at first reached about 2200m, later over all highest peaks. Quality and thoughtfully made bivouac really impressed me, also insulation, as after short stop in bivouac (cold fog outside) it was at least 10°C warmer inside than outside without sun exposure. Other downside is that bivouac in just few days got quite dirty on the walking floor area. There should be some mat placed, which would also show the uncouth where they can move, as some first lay in sleeping area, then pressed shoe print on bivouac wall, which is extremely rude to builders and attitude to mountaineering in general. Also broom and trash bin plus some sulphur brush. Although fog was quite persistent, I suggested short ascent to Turska gora. On top it cleared a bit with clear sky and views. Back we returned shortest over Žmavčarje, where at end we all realized descent was harder than ascent.

Another interesting explanation from a local mountaineer from Kamnik about the naming of Gamsov "skret". The skret itself doesn't mean chamois WC as most imagine, but skret comes from skreči. That means there under Kogl chamois turn in all directions, so that area is called Gamsji skr e t, with emphasis on long e. Well, now we'll laugh a bit less when going over Gamsji skret, which is now, as they say, nicer passable than Žmavčarje.

viharnik, here I don't agree with your explanation. If I understand correctly, you're writing about the secured hunting path over Gamsov skret. There really is no chamois WC there. Chamois WC you see live if you go on the old unsecured shepherd passage above the hunting path. That path was described by Andrej Stritar and he says because of their "souvenirs" they christened it Gamsov skret. The path brings us under south wall of Kogla. Further passage we find right. We have to climb steep ledge and past overhang with chamois droppings step over to narrow, very exposed ledge without protection. Not ashamed to say that first time below top of steep ledge I barely turned around and went down with rubbery knees. After first failed shepherd path passage I went three more times through Gamsov skret. But until now I haven't gathered courage to return also through that shepherd passage called Gamsov skret. Cheers!

God knows if even locals and Stritar together don't know exactly if and whether we really have genuine "skret" of horned locals there under Kogl. Best would be to ask them, where they retreat for their big need .
