Maybe someone knows how much snow has fallen on Uršlja these days? Tomorrow we can apparently expect a new shipment, I hope for as much as possible!

Today mom, dad and I ascended Uršlja Gora from Naravske Ledine. The short easy tour started to be adorned halfway by a thin snow cover, which reached ~20cm at the end. A few minutes before the top the warm sun started warming us, causing wonderful sparkling on the snow cover. Trees are still dressed in snow-ice coat, creating a fairytale atmosphere. The day was really wonderful, sky practically cloudless, offering nice view on surrounding (and more distant) peaks. Like many other hikers we attended the last mass of the year in St. Ursula church, located opposite the Dom na Uršlji Gori (today is actually St. Ursula's day). Attaching some photos.

With a colleague we walked to Uršlja again today. We started relatively early, so the top was still wrapped in fog when we arrived, plus it was windy. Otherwise wonderful view, as far as it was visible. We continued to the hut, where we stopped for a few minutes and watched the fog slowly dissipate. When the sun finally shone, the view was really excellent. Since we forgot gaiters at home due to my fault, the descent was especially marked by somewhat colder feelings in the lower limbs ps. Just one or two more loads of snow, and it will be nice to ski/snowboard from the top down to the valley.

With the family we set off to Uršlja Gora from Naravske Ledine today. In the lower third of the trail it was already all muddy in the morning time, with altitude the trail turned into a proper winter tour. Considering October, so much snow, wow. With kids we enjoyed snowballing and magnificent views far around. Descent was due to high temperatures quite fast and caused no problems, except in the lower part where we were dirtier than wet. Trail is trampled, slightly frozen in the middle (morning), along the trail still about 10-25 cm snow. Carinthia charmed us once again. Recommend! LP Andrej

Said, done. We were on Uršlja Gora and that in real winter. We started in a beautiful morning, on top ended in fog. Yesterday dry snow dumped 10-20 cm, so gaiters were almost not needed. On the trail it was slippery especially on return. The open hut offered us pleasant shelter from cold and snow showers. Photos follow.

Hello, I've been reading these pages for a long time; this is my first time writing. I'm considering visiting Uršlja gora (the pictures enthused me ). But in the path description from Poštarski dom via Kozarnica I noticed the note that in winter it's not quite suitable due to avalanches. How about the path via Kal? Currently there's probably not much snow on the mountain, but I'm still interested in which path is more suitable in winter. My winter hill visits are still limited to those where avalanche risk is lower (+ use of poles and crampons). Thanks a lot for the tip.

In winter best to go by the ironworks path, start at Ivarček lake above Kotlje, in summer I go more from Križan gora, in winter don't go from there because worse road (macadam) and don't know if they plough, now without snow probably can reach Križan without problem, from Ciganija or Sleme or Slovenj Gradec direction too. Hope I helped

Oh and warning!!! The Železarska path is extremely icy, well it was like that on Saturday when I went to Uršlja gora via that path, but I doubt it's better now, temperatures all week below freezing, in Koroška where no thaw yet still well below zero (around -5, -6°C still there).

Easiest and shortest path from Naravska ledina. Road well passable, path quite icy. Little caution or small crampons and ok without worry. L.p.

Road from Sleme pass to Križan very icy, so don't recommend driving it! From start of winter path to Križan walking on road in 20 min. Lp, Jure
