And does anyone know up to where the road to Vršič from Gorenjska side is currently drivable? Thanks!

Yes, traffic info says so. Maybe snow on road will melt by weekend. Won't bother mounting chains in morning frost. ;-)

Thanks for the info. I see they fixed it, this morning it still said the road was closed.

From the Gorenjska side the road is plowed and you don't need chains. From the Bovec side it wasn't yet yesterday morning. Regards

On Sunday 23 November I drive to Vršič and around four in the morning head towards Velika Mojstrovka. The views were unique and Mojstrovka didn't disappoint me this time either... more at the link

rerze11 Rok, Wonderful. That's the most beautiful thing you can experience in the mountains. Did you go alone? What's the path like? Are crampons and ice axe needed? I'm tempted to go too. But I have no winter high-mountain experience. I was on Košuta yesterday. I spent the day waiting on the top. Unfortunately it was cloudy in the morning.

Obligatory classic ice axe, proper crampons, knowledge and experience in using them for ascent to Mojstrovka and similar peaks in winter conditions or in the next few months.

neyo Some went to Mala Mojstrovka, but to Velika I really went alone. The trampled path went without problems, but conditions are already wintry. I didn't need crampons and ice axe this time and they stayed in the backpack... but now it's time when winter gear must be obligatory on the tour.

Beautiful pictures! Breathtaking, as someone recently put it, would hardly be appropriate enough here. What a starry sky! It can only be like this after new moon, on clear nights. I think I saw part of the Orion constellation on one picture, which adorns winter nights. We cheer for such shots, of mountains and sky!
