Today's tour I did along with my colleague and my son, who's off to study abroad where he'll miss such mountains. zadrega

Ascent from Jezersko mostly in shade. It suited us. mežikanje

Up the Slovenian then along the "slope" to the top where sun caught us. nasmeh

Descent along ridge to Jenkova planina, which is boasting a new road coming to the pasture from Austrian side. Don't know why such a road... zavijanje z očmi

Last year on the way to Jenkova planina I met an expert from Slovenian state forests who traced the road route from Ravenska Kočna to Jenkova planina and told me the road is traced to be suitable for cycling. A connection to Belska Kočna on Austrian side should be created.

Baba was quite visited today. I counted 14 of us.
So that was you guys, garmont, who welcomed us at the top. If I'd known I'd have taken a better look at you. nasmeh

About an hour ago we clearly saw all this from up there

Even now it's wonderful. Once in October it was even nicer - golden larches

Yesterday from Ravenska kočna via Slovenian to Ledin then via Rudijeva vertical to summit. Descent on Austrian side and over Jezersko sedlo.
Path to Ledin super, marked, protected, suitable for everyone basically. At Kranjska koča lots of alpinists because Nejc Zaplotnik camp by PD Kranj is on.
Path on to vertical good. Still need good dose of caution because we know the path is crumbly.
Rudijeva vertical no issues, always a pleasure, on to summit all normal.
No crowds on path yesterday, well except us who were probably biggest obstacle for those overtaking us nasmeh

Thursday was such a beautiful day it'd be almost a sin to spend it at work nasmeh

Koroška Baba with its Rudijeva vertikala which I hadn't climbed yet has long excited me somehow, since 20 years ago when my friend and I descended preferring past it on Austrian side, there wasn't enough courage for it. Well, true that right time comes for everything nasmeh

First we climbed via Slovenian path to hut at Ledinah, where obligatory coffee stop because such nice sitting in front of hut you rarely find. By then sun came out and coffee enjoyment increased nasmeh

This vertikala really something special, such low fixed cables I don't remember anywhere else, nice scrambling around it now one side then other even above it. All by inspiration nasmeh

. Really impresses you, and views to Storžek and Ledinski vrh, and path zigzagging between them to Jezersko sedlo.
Also impresses the path under high wall you follow in flat open world on one side then rises again to summit.

At top you can choose between two summits, I dare say the other one without box is nicer and better for views.

We descended ridge path to Jenkova planina though the only hiker we met below summit said she'd never return that way.

After consideration, I identified it as a female dung beetle.

from here still about half an hour to the top

in the background the path winds along the Austrian side towards Jezersko sedlo

the only female hiker on the entire path said she would never return towards Jenkova planina

and also towards Mrzla, never yet visited, gora

Ločanka, Baba really had to wait quite a while for your first visit. But she greeted you in her finest glory, with enviable views and impressions that aren't forgotten and will surely bring you back to her embrace. At least that's how it was for me with this Baba. , Babas are really awesome! This Carinthian one, with the option of such a nice traverse, especially!
Just right demanding, not too much, not too little so the mountain has extra charm, since it's a peak that you simply have to devote to along the whole path, it demands time for itself nasmeh

. Definitely a mountain that thought clings to you long after you've distanced from it and lost it from sight. Thought of it just keeps returning!

I aimed for the afternoon start at Jezersko but at the last second decided to go the other way, not towards Češka hut. Over Jenko pasture and along the ridge to Velika Baba. Dry conditions. Descended to the other side, lower there's another snow patch. I crossed it with ice axe, could have glissaded it. Met another 4 hikers, they came via the direct route and said no problems. Descended to the Austrian side and down the wide gully to Ledinski vrh. Descended past Ledine and along the Slovenian one, there in the gully at the top of the climbing route there's another snow patch, but it's so far from the wall that the protections are ok.

Today wonderful summer day for traversing Baba above Jezersko. For ascent chose Slovenian path and Rudijeva vertical, for descent border ridge to Jenko pasture. All paths good, maybe towards vertical some pulled peg but no problem. On ridge can easily stray at some spots if not following passages and marks well. At Ledine served good coffee, this time by new friendly hutkeeper, with whom we chatted away nasmeh

Today a nice tour to the mentioned mountain with extension to Ledinski vrh and Križ. From the parking lot to Jenko pasture and further via demanding and exposed ridge path to Baba. Descent via Ledin and Slovenian path to the starting point. No crowds on the path, views wonderful. Nice mountaineer's greeting.

Velika Baba 28/8/2020

Started from Ravenska Kočna past the lower cable car station towards the hut at Ledine via Slovenian path. At the scree we put on helmets and were soon at the hut. Friendly hutkeeper served us fresh coffee and we said one or two.

Continued under Ledinski vrh on slightly crumbly secured path and further via Rudijeva vertical. Super because not many people. Around the corner to the summit, then descended along the ridge to Jenko pasture and back to parking.

Super tour, weather great, met few people. Path without issues, protections OK.

A little more through the forest and the loop is closed

On Saturday 12.9. to Velika Baba from Logarska dolina, weather was fantastic and hikers many too, it was super.

Nice greeting. Does anyone perhaps know what the conditions are like from Jezersko Saddle to Velika Baba.

Today members of GK Limberk went to check conditions on the path to Velika Baba and further to Ledinski vrh. There is no snow field under Baba summit anymore. Under Ledinski vrh and on the scree to the saddle there is still snow. Under Ledinski vrh, it can be nicely crossed with ice axe. On the scree it can be bypassed on the left side towards the saddle. Nice circular tour. Path offers wonderful views, but the ridge is very exposed.
