Nice pictures as always dear otiv. You didn't forget our favorite flowers either. You captured everything from the candlestick through goldenrod to the cup-shaped gentian - Gentianella anisodonta. There are so many species of gentians that it's hard to identify the species exactly. Besides the cup-shaped one, there is also the early, Austrian, hairy, rough, Liburnian-only on Snežnik and delicate. Only with the fringed one we can't go wrong, because there's only one - dark blue - you photographed it last time. All other gentians from early - I photographed it this year at Češka koča to Austrian - on Pekol pasture, are in various shades of purple. Yours photographed, I think I took this year recently at Vodnikov dom. But the cup-shaped also has several subspecies. It should grow only above the upper tree line. Best regards.

Today we escaped the foggy valley in the morning to Velika Planina. The sunshine warmed our bodies, clarity and peace our hearts. Our dog had a blast and romped around like it hasn't in a long time, as there weren't many visitors in the morning. Wonderful morning!

The pasture is again dressed in white. The valley was also dressed in white, but not snowy, but foggy. So after work I drove towards Kranjski Rak and since the road was plowed (at least at the beginning it looked that way, but later it was more driven than anything), a bit higher. Since I was already quite late, I quickened my pace and headed towards Zeleni rob to catch the sunset. It was worth hurrying, because the colors around the setting sun were wonderful. At that moment, the question arose in me if St. Nicholas hasn't started baking cookies already for next year In the dusk I reached Gradišče and slowly descended to the car in the dark.

Not much snow even at 1500 m. Road from Kranjski Rak to quarry a bit icy but salted, so no chains needed. Snow on plateau blown away, path icy in spots, so little crampons really useful, esp. on descent. Wind blowing like hell. Even two cyclists persisted.

In the morning I decided for Velika planina based on cams. From Primož on it opened up showing blue sky. Over Pasje pečine possible without extra winter gear with proper caution. Windy on plateau but some cm fresh snow. Nice

Start parking at gondola station, then into Dolski graben. Aim was actually ascent to Konj, but on Planina Dol it was blowing so nasty we rather headed to Velika planina. Nice goal too, those fairy huts on top worth seeing sometimes. Warm in Zelena rob, then down (cough, with cablecar...). Path through ravine dry but slippery from leaves on slopes, from Planina Dol on snow that doesn't bother. If bit more, even less. No skiing cuz rocks sticking out, hardly any people seen. When it blew it was really cold, despite clouds still some views. Nice hike for such days.

Anyone have info how much snow on Velika planina? Enough for snowshoeing? Planning Stahovica - Gradišče route.

No, 120 is a bit exaggerated, unless you lie down.!! I went up today from Stahovica over Pasje peči to Gradišč. The path over Pasje peči is slightly harder due to drifted snow, occasionally it sinks to the knees, on top of Poljanski rob it is mostly blown away due to strong wind.

Today from Kranjski Rak in snow on the road with skis (cca 10 cm) of fresh dry snow, just right back for descent to the car. Wondering if anyone has info if the ski area at Zeleni Rob is operating. I went only to Domžalski dom, the keeper there says he doesn't know how it is there. I heard from acquaintances that one part of the ski area might be operating
