Velika Planina is an eternally grateful destination for a visit, as it always surprises with some unique beauty that is never exactly the same as on the previous visit. So it was this time too. We caught nice weather unlike the fog piled up in the valley, everything sparkled, there was a special light, occasional clouds or fog sneaking over the meadows enlivened the scene and there were plenty of motifs that awakened the desire for photography. So we took enough time for strolling the hillocks and little valleys of our beautiful planina. And you won't believe it, we met no more than 5 people and even on Zeleni Rob we were the only guests at that moment. lp

Already on the way to Velika planina, the shine of the church of sv. Ahac na Kališu enchanted us

The fog is receding, the blue is becoming more visible

Velika Planina doesn't hide its charms even when snow covers its pastures. It is always diverse anew and surprises. And so it sparkled yesterday in all its beauty....

Thanks, ločanka; when on planina, everything seems one big fairy tale anyway. This time husband photographed only with phone until fingers almost froze.. velik nasmeh

Today up through Kuklarje, descent through Dolski Graben.
In the morning the rain nicely soaked us, which at the junction to Kuklarje turned to snow and thus nicely spiced our tour. zavijanje z očmi

At the top everything white, partly due to fog velik nasmeh

Otherwise, a nicely spent day. nasmeh

Parked at Jelšev Konfin, first to Gojška planina. Path through forest full of leaves, underneath lots of icy patches. Careful, especially on descent. Further no problem, can avoid ice. Past Jarški and Domžalski to Gradišče and Zeleni rob. After coffee went to check windmill, but snow-covered, didn't go in. Little snow, maybe slide on frozen puddles. Some sun, some clouds, no wind.

To Zeleni rob to try struklji, if still as good as last year nasmeh

Struklji probably still good. But a month ago we spent weekend on Velika Planina. And of course tried mulled wine at Zeleni rob. Ugh. Such powder you don't get even by Ljubljanica for New Year. And we didn't even try again. So don't know if slip-up or always like that. jezen

Better go further to Mala planina to Jarški dom for excellent apple strudel and homemade tea for more than 30% cheaper. Struklji at Zeleni rob are first thawed at the cable car below, then frozen once more.. a bit more crap at the end. Tea from a cheap filter bag in chipped cups for 1.90€, shameful rip-off!

I also avoid the inn at Zeleni rob from afar. 20 minutes away there are three much more popular destinations with tasty food and reasonable prices.

Road from Volovjek pass to parking at Rakove ravne cleared but not gritted. Parking cleared, plenty of space. Road to junction track to Gojška planina snowcat plowed, further trodden track. As soon as it clears up, planina will be fairy-tale.

In expectation that I'd enjoy heavy snowfall before the hilltop, I was way off. From the forecasted rain, I got wettest from snow falling off the trees. velik nasmeh

Really great walk, though the icy road to Primož and trudging from the sawmill onwards hindered it. With Mareta we cheered from behind the stove for our two finalists who got super 8th and 20th places.

15.2.2019 despite sign at Kranjski Rak that road is plowed and salted, it's not. zmeden

Plowed yes, salted no. You can get up only if you're lucky no one stops ahead, chains or 4x4. I turned back too and went nicely on foot from Kranjski Rak through forest to quarry then left to Koča Na Kisovcu, after 10 min right to Mala Planina. Nice easy trip good if you have poles and microspikes for shoes.
