Wonderful! And also - very good decision for the morning approach.
A couple of hours later it was almost impossible to get up, continuous column of vehicles. We therefore ended up on Kranjska rebra. See pics on the tour page

Metod, the NIJZ folks don't read this because they're skiing on Krvavec. The siege of Mecca is nothing compared to today's Velika. But still I'd rather not talk about it either. The pictures nicely show there's only a token amount of snow up there, just two shots above Domžalec prove my fingers froze badly

Just now (16.30) friend returning from parking at Ravne, there agreed to take him to Velika planina with snowcat. Due to strong wind and drifts snowcat driver refused transport.
Even with 4x4 jeep very hard to reach parking at Ravne (one car already slid off road).

Through Primož to planina good track and normally passable. Quite a few of us went up today.
To Primož almost no snow, just slush.

...but deep 'poking' towards Zeleni Rob and Gradišče. Thick fog didn't spoil virginity of planina at 70cm snow. Experienced three sunny glimpses - as usual missed all three. In forest above Primož quite a few fresh fallen trees and broken branches on trail. Both paths trodden (over Pasje Pečine and over Pirčev Vrh)

Uff, a couple of days ago I hiked this trail, now I'm tempted to do it again in the shortest possible time

The morning rain between Ljubljana and Kamnik didn't deter us from today's Velika Planina. A bit below Volovljek there was some ice on the road, otherwise (at least today) drivable without issues. The snow cover is really thick, under Gradišče around one meter. It will increase a lot more if it snows all weekend. Unfortunately we didn't get sun, views were limited more to the east. But we met many groups of people who will celebrate New Year's in shepherds' huts. On the way back there was a small traffic jam at Volovljek today too.
Wishing everyone a happy (and as normal as possible) 2021, full of mountain pleasures and luck where you need it most!

Today from Calcit to Domžale Lodge. Worth mentioning snow starts a bit above Sv. Primož, ice a bit lower. Thick fog on Mala Planina and wind, but nothing worse.
