We met on Saturday at Rogatec. nasmeh Thanks for directing me a bit back towards the car. Otherwise nice and very interesting path. I started a bit lower than you two, at the Rogljev mill and spent about 7 hours for the whole path. For next time I'll know I can park near the chapel of St. Lenart.

I start in Gornji Grad and walk to Lenart. I listen to the rustling of the wind, the murmuring of the stream, enjoy the solitude. I continue along the ridge and climb the flower carpet to Lepenatka. Everything is in plain sight. I dream of future hikes... I descend to Kal and climb to Rogatec along the path of blooming primroses. I really appreciate the work of diligent foresters who have well cleared the path after the windstorm. I realize the power of nature... I chat with friendly hikers and soon I'm at Zgornji and then Spodnji Špeh. Cows are happily free nasmeh I observe thousands of little flowers and that soft spring grass... I pass farms Lamperčnik and Bezovnik and quickly back to the car in Gornji Grad. Quite windy and cloudy day, but a day for the soul and spirit.

Yesterday again to these parts, this time a bit differently:
Gornji Grad - Vivodnik, Menina planina - Črnivec - Kašna planina - Kunšperski vrh - Lepenatka - Sedlo Kal - V. Rogatec - via Zg. and Sp. Špeh down to Gornji Grad.

Very scenic path across wonderful pastures. A pleasant breeze made walking easier, so it wasn't too hot nasmeh Long path that offers many beautiful things...

It must really be beautiful in these areas for Gorska planika to visit so often. She enthused me and I'll come to see from Gorenjska this week. How long did you take, G.planika, for this circular path on May 2nd?

Hello! At this time it's really beautiful, full of flowers and buds... For this path I needed 5 hours, with a slightly faster pace. Safe journey and have a nice time! nasmeh

For this path that you did in 5 hours, an average hiker would need "in my opinion" twice as longvelik nasmeh

Hi,

http://www.movescount.com/moves/move214492699

Altogether 36 km and over 2300 m positive elevation gain.

If that's true @gorskaplanika has a very fast pace. Bravo!

Personally for me this is one of the most beautiful loops in Slovenia. Especially the section from Menina planina to Travnik planina.

Best, Nino

If I read correctly, babica 5's question referred to the path from 2.5., so probably Gorska planika's answer about 5 hours too?

Huh, what a discussion nasmeh with babica 5 we talked about the shorter path, just to Lepenatko and Rogatec (2.5.2018).
That one from Sunday (7.5.2018) is really longer and more strenuous loop nasmeh And from Menina to Travnik is really wonderful, especially in these spring colors!
Nino, thanks for the route description, it's interesting to see what all one can hike... especially when looking back, it seems unbelievable...

Yesterday from St. Lovrenc over Špeh to Rogatec and from Kal also to Lepenatko. Below the summit of Rogatec caution is needed as it was very slippery after rain and covered with leaves hiding roots. There was also some wind.

Maybe it's worth mentioning here that due to last year's windthrow there's timber harvesting. The path between Zg. Špeh and Rogatec is a bit more difficult because of that or almost pathless in some sections

8.11.2018:
Originally I planned to find Srnjak's kotli that day, but ended up on Rogatec too.
In the morning after some searching I found myself in front of the abandoned Srnjak homestead. There hunters set up a feeding station and observation post for game. I even waved to the camera.smile
From there I climbed along the forest lane to the trail leading from Gornji grad to Rogatec. I ascended to it from Kal. At the top I met cheerful hikers from around Zabukovica. Thanks again for the sweets.
Descended to Zg. Špeh. This path in the lower part under the lane is a bit less nice due to moisture and some fallen trees. Elsewhere the path is completely fine.
On the drive to Šokata I looked at some beauties of Šokatnica.
cico, the Kotli are beautiful and worth trying canyoning in summer.
Lp and safe steps to all from under beautiful Golte, Janezsmile

In summer the Kotli are quite dry, right after rain
is better, otherwise they've been doing canyoning here
for years already!!! I was probably 15 years ago
the first in neoprene around here, modern tourism
has taken over all gullies, even in Podvolovljek!!!

Nice regards!!

The idea waited from the description above (2016). I started the trip on 2.6. and finished today. Started at the bend above Klinar and steeply to the Rogatec ridge. I checked the spot and admired the skill where geppo and company approached. After 45 minutes of clawing up the steep I thought I was hallucinating, but I caught the only thunderstorm of that day. Before the first rocky jump I gave up, completely soaked during heavy rain I expressed some #$@&%*! and by chance found the hunting hut on descent. But JTrogar wrote it's worth repeating... Well, today I continued, for crossing the jump chose the first right ledge. Glad I didn't persist in the rain, as the ridge later becomes quite narrow and traversable over steep grassy ledges. At the top I caught a few moments alone in the views. Descended towards Špeh and then to Kal and there found the hunting path back. Major clearings interrupt it before the hut, orientation from a week ago helped me to finally descend only twenty meters down. Then along the forest lane to the road, which is heavily damaged, and back to start. It was very hot, ridge covered with millions of ants. The last steep before summit can be climbed on rock, left on steep grass (my choice) or bypass it and traverse slightly left down to marked path (about 20m, discovered on descent). Nice pathless tour!
I would have sat down, but ants didn't allow it...1
At the summit clear and hot.2
Above the jump the ridge becomes narrower and grassy.3
I returned along the hunting trail.4

Yesterday to the top from Sv. Lenart past Zg. Špeh, descent to Kal and back to start. The path to Špeh above the church soon after the ramp by the stream branches from the forest road into the forest; no markings warning of this junction, but in the forest there are. Above Špeh the trail after a while again climbs from the road into the forest, junction not marked here either. In the forest due to windthrow need to avoid fallen trees, but trail easy to follow. When I reached near the saddle between main Rogatec summit and north subpeak, I first went towards the latter. Later slightly exposed path not marked, but traceable as it sticks to the ridge, requires some caution. To main summit not far, views from there better than from subpeak.
The path descending to Kal saddle rightly marked as very demanding, as it's quite airy, fixed protections only on one jump in lower part of path, which is best done dry. Windthrow consequences excellently cleared. Nice path with Trentarian flair…

Today from the chapel Sv. Lenart past Zg. Špeh to the top of Rogatec.
Descent along the ridge to Kal and then over Lepenatko and below Ugovški vrh back to the car.
From Špeh the path is icy in places, elsewhere no such issues.
Given the fog in the valley, I managed a nice escape to the sun. smile
