... Start at Ablanca. Impressive mountain, at the start of the path lots of fine sand, then grass and rocks. Then over Studorski preval, along the ridge to V. D. peak. The path is very interesting, though the trail at the beginning is a bit overgrown with brush, but no problem to get through it, then descent and under the cliffs - cables to M. D. peak. For ascent to it you need poles almost to the top, it's very varied, interesting. On Viševnik crowded as always. Nice, well-spent day with wonderful views. Helicopters were "buzzing" all morning, delivering food to mtn. huts, that must bevelik nasmeh nasmeh

Yesterday easy sports tour with friend Rudno polje - Studorski preval - Ablanca - Studorski preval - Veliki Draški vrh - Srenjski preval - Viševnik - Rudno polje. All paths dry and fine. To Ablanca lower part crumbly and full of scree. To Planika they went in columns. At top of VDV we chatted for 2 hours about this and that, if alone I roam more. But yesterday also great.
To VDV not only path along ridge past brush (that's the one we took yesterday), but also one more to the right (viewed from Stud. preval upwards). On path Stud. preval - Srenjski preval after about 15m branches steeply left up and brings to ridge, height ca. 2000m. Avoids jumps and fighting brush.

Hehe, surprised the last post is from September. Looks like I'm the only one hiking. Today start just after 3pm, so damn hot. Yeah, work doesn't ask if you'd like to go to mountains, have to hike after work. Well, after 2 hours at VDV. Planned MDV too, but admit, didn't feel like it, slowed pace instead, so from VDV top via Viševnik to Rudno polje took another 2h15min. Whole path fine, cables at short traverse fine, fight with pines on VDV ridge remains. Triglav highway full of traffic, mostly foreigners, from Studorski preval to Viševnik and Rudno polje alone. Well, saw one lady at ski slope.

Not quite autumn yet nasmeh circular tour, starting at Rudno polje. Super, and four two-thousanders at once nasmeh. Unmarked trails to Mali and Veliki Draški Vrh and Ablanca are well visible, but especially to Mali and Ablanca not for everyone. Helmet really recommended, especially for on and under Mali Draški vrh and Ablanca.

Hi,

on Saturday on the way from Studorski preval to Rudno polje (ca. 100m from Uskovnica - Rudno polje junction) I forgot black Burton fleece in the torrent, someone already found it (went to look yesterday and it was gone).

Honest finder please contact me at kruh80@gmail.com and thanks in advance.

best, Matevž

Yesterday on a nice autumn day I conquered four Pokljuka two-thousanders: Ablanca-2004m, Veliki Draški vrh-2243m, Mali Draški vrh-2132m, Viševnik-2050m. I started from the parking above Rudno polje and midway in the forest decided to go via Planina Konjščica. This junction is poorly marked. Only on one rock there is a faded inscription. At the planina in the hut they provide friendly service in summer. But in summer it is always crowded. Then up to Planina Jezerca past the spring to Studorski preval. At the saddle left into the rocks of Ablanca. It takes just a short five minutes to climb the rocks, then the difficulties pass and soon we are on the panoramic summit, which is unfortunately little visited. Then down and far right path to Veliki Draški vrh. The path first goes through brush slowly overgrowing the path, then to the top it is quite pleasant. Near the top a strong wind surprises me. The stamp on the top is poorly visible, the logbook box on the ground is empty. From here I descend the secured path to Srenjski preval. There my third two-thousander tempts me. Getting up there is a quite demanding project. First it goes along scree and then continues with scrambling on rocks. There is virtually no path, we search for the easiest passages. Here and there one can see where predecessors went. Somehow I climb first to the right rocky summit, then to the left one. Down of course even more carefully. From the saddle a pleasant path to Viševnik awaits me. Today these mountains had a lot of visitors. It was nice sunny weather.

We too yesterday, 1.11.2013, went to all four summits. The day was gorgeous and the views fantastic velik nasmeh

We did a circular tour: Rudno polje - Viševnik - Srenjski preval - Mali Draški vrh - Srenjski preval - Veliki Draški vrh - Studorski preval - Ablanca - Studorski preval - Rudno polje.
The whole tour took 8.5 hours, with stops on the summits.

The whole tour is extremely nice, but requires quite some fitness, as you are constantly going up and down between summits.
For Mali Draški vrh and Ablanca I recommend a helmet, as they are quite crumbly. Otherwise the path from Srenjski preval to Veliki Draški vrh is very well secured velik nasmeh

Conditions in Gamsova grapa good for climbing but bad for skiing. Here and there soft crap. The grapa in the lower - southern part is smoothed.
From the grapa we looked at very crowded surrounding peaks, we enjoyed solitude. Ablanca before our visit had one more, namely via the east ridge. On the summit choughs kept us company.
We skied down the north side, the grapa is just at exposed spots icy.

From Pokljuka to Viševnik probably sticks suffice (on a warm day)?

From Jezerca to Srenjski preval is probably too dangerous?

I would do a loop via Viševnik (without MDV of course), so I'm curious.

I'm not going tomorrow anyway, will wait for a warm sunny day.

Otherwise thanks for info. Since I have no gear, according to what's written I'll skip the Pass, better cautiously both ways from Pokljuka.

On Wednesday I took a short walk from Uskovnica to Veliki Draški vrh, then to Tosc and back to Uskovnica. I experienced everything from a light shower to snow to sunny weather.... During the whole hike I met no other hikers, but there were many more native highland dwellers mežikanje I saw among others 3 marmots and 6 chamois. It was a really peaceful day, for all heading to Pokljuka peaks no need for winter gear (ice axe, crampons), I had them..., since any snow patch can be easily avoided.
I must point out that from Srenjski preval to VDV the initial section of the path is a bit difficult, as the brush has overgrown...

Views were excellent, only Triglav peak was in fog from both VDV and Tosc mežikanje

Yesterday I went on an afternoon tour to Veliki Draški vrh and Viševnik. Started from Rudno polje to Studorski preval. Mainly hikers were returning en masse. Even a platoon of soldiers was there. From Studorski preval right on the unmarked path to Veliki Draški vrh. There was high cloud cover - poor conditions for nice photos. Triglav and neighbors were in clouds. The brush on this path really needs some trimming. There was no log box at the summit anywhere. It was quite cold at the top - gloves would have been good. Then down and along the protected path to Srenjski preval. I looked along the ridge of Mali Draški vrh. It should be possible to reach the summit from that side along the ridge. The grassy ridge itself looks nicely passable, then towards the top there is rock - I don't know how it goes there. From Srenjski preval I had already been to the summit. An unmarked path leads up, sometimes it gets lost among rocks, but you arrive nicely. From Srenjski preval along a pleasant path to Viševnik. Unfortunately, the log box is torn off and on the ground, the logbook full of entries and wet. I don't know which PD covers this peak. I urge them to fix this before winter. The last entries in the book were at the beginning of August. Lately I've noticed that societies take poor care of logbooks. This year I've encountered completely full ones on several peaks. Then quickly down. When coming down the path from the brush, a path branches off to the right. I was curious where it would lead me. Locally it is poorly trodden, as if used only by cows. I think it would lead me to Planina Konjščica. Somewhere it also turns left and I continued on it and reached boggy terrain, heavily trodden by cows, and came to a path that would also lead me to the ski lift.
Forepeak of Ablanca, it still needs to be conquered from this side as well.1
Srenjski pass with these beautiful rocky horns.2
Mali Draški vrh. It appears much more imposing than its taller neighbor.3
A little sunshine at Studorski pass.4
Part of a platoon of soldiers, girls were among them too.5
Ablanca one way or another.6
This is the first two-thousander that we encounter on the path to Vodnikov dom and onwards to Triglav. Unfortunately it has very few visitors. It doesn't have a logbook or stamp.7
Towards Veliki Draški vrh.8
The ridge that stretches from Veliki Draški vrh towards Tosc. It looks nicely passable, difficulties would arise at the end of the ridge in the rocks.9
Tosc - this year it still awaits me, if winter doesn't overtake me first. This year I already experienced it towards Viš.10
Veliki Draški vrh. It has a stamp, I didn't see a canister with logbook. Otherwise I can say that the stamp is worn out and not visible at all.11
In the direction of Lipance are the steep rocks of Mali Draški vrh - they appear obstructive.12
Some edelweiss can still be found on the path.13

Yesterday nice loop (Pokljuka, Ablanca, Veliki Draški vrh, Viševnik, Pokljuka). The path offers nice views, but it was very windy. Below Mali Draški vrh the path is quite exposed and requires more caution (especially in wet weather). Nice greeting.
