@darinka4 or anyone else: I'm interested if the stamp is already at the top? Comments in some descriptions say there isn't one (nowhere anymore?!).

The stamp for Visoki Kanin and Rombon you get at Bar Bumbar on the Kanin ski slope. According to some (unverified), you get it also in Bovec at the TIC. On Visoki Kanin even the cross will slowly be gone.. sad Good luck

How far is it to the Gilberti hut, I see you went on foot? Thanks

Officially it's somewhere 1:40. At the start you cross the ski slope and ascend on the right side of the ski slope. So that you won't search unnecessarily

For a 10 € return ticket I don't know if it's worth walking that uninteresting path.

We needed an hour and a half to the Gilberti hut. The path is nicely laid through the forest and quite followable and marked. Cable car starts at 8:30 - 16:30. For down we paid 8 €.

Cable car runs until 17.30, at the counter they ask if you have a mask!

What's that question for? To go up you need at most a windbreaker and sunscreen, not a mask.

The mask question is probably in place, as it's still mandatory in some places. If the gondola counts as public transport, also in it. Because of that I took the bike to the Dolomites to do shorter paths with it, instead of mask and bus... "From 1. 6. 2022 entry to Italy without green certificates. Italy from 1 June abolishes green certificates (green pass) for entry to the country (Italian), also these certificates are not mandatory for services within the country. Protective masks (FFP2) are still mandatory in Italy on public transport (plane, train, buses) in theatres, cinemas and sports halls. In shops and restaurants protective masks are no longer mandatory." source: https://www.gov.si/drzave/italija/

@jax, masks are still mandatory in Italy on public transport (also in gondolas), so the question was completely appropriate. No need to make a farce out of every question...

And who knows what's the current possibility of overnighting on Kanin? They took away the bivouac, hut closed?? Thanks for the answer.

Last year, when descending from High Kanin we stopped at the hut. And chatted with cavers. They said those who miss the last cable car usually sleep there.

Hut not officially open yet, but cavers working on it. If there, can arrange to sleep. Best chances probably weekends.

Went Saturday past the hut where cavers were. Just mounting solar panels. Cable car worker mentioned could arrange some stay. From bivouac only foundations and some wooden remains left.
