What's that question for? To go up you need at most a windbreaker and sunscreen, not a mask.

@jax, masks are still mandatory in Italy on public transport (also in gondolas), so the question was completely appropriate. No need to make a farce out of every question...

And who knows what's the current possibility of overnighting on Kanin? They took away the bivouac, hut closed??

Last year, when descending from High Kanin we stopped at the hut. And chatted with cavers. They said those who miss the last cable car usually sleep there.

Hut not officially open yet, but cavers working on it. If there, can arrange to sleep. Best chances probably weekends.

Went Saturday past the hut where cavers were. Just mounting solar panels. Cable car worker mentioned could arrange some stay. From bivouac only foundations and some wooden remains left.

Sadly, I don't know if they can be contacted somehow. You're so fast anyway that you don't need to overnight. I know that one on Skalca, maybe sometime we can go together on something easier again. 😀

We went up at 7.00 with the workers because afternoon storms were forecast and so we arrived first from this side to the summit, but people had already come via both ferratas from the Italian side.mežikanje
The path is well marked and normally passable, no stamp at the top or in my opinion nowhere, because I asked at the refreshment place above the gondola, which has stamps, and also at the TIC. helmet is mandatory, because there's quite a crowd, consequently rocks get dislodged.

We used the cable cars and effortlessly reached 2202 m altitude, which greatly eases the matter. First we climbed to Prestreljenik Window, then across the rocky barrier to the other side, crossed scree slopes and ascended to High Kanin. 07.10. Gozdec-Kanin-P. Skalar Hut-Gozdec

Spring snow, summer too hot, autumn just the right time to visit Kanin. We drove by car a bit above B station to P. Gozdec, from where we started ascending towards the old hut still in slight dusk. We reached there in 1.30h, had first snack and continued towards Kanin via Zadnji dol. We walked over the pastures another approx. two hours to reach the scree, where the path becomes poorly visible for about hundred meters. After scree follows only a gully to the summit with fantastic views. At the top we rested and admired nearby peaks, until we headed along the ridge to the hut. There cavers served us tea and pancakes. They also said the hut is not open yet because they don't have chemical toilet yet, and plan to do it next season. From the hut we just descended to the car.

Fixing text on photos is no problem, just log in and click under photos and you can edit. For the text itself you'll have to ask Tadej or Rok to open the post. Well, that's what I think.
