I'm wondering if currently one can start with touring skis already at the lower cable car station? And if not, from where onwards can one?

Thanks for info and best regards!mežikanjenasmeh

According to the Bohinj lake camera, Bohinj is almost bare. Since I did the tour over Pl. Suho, there has been no new snow here; now 5 cm new on Rjava skala 1540 m SKI-Vogel. At that time snow for ski touring started at 800 m in gullies; now the limit has surely moved to around 1000 m. Pleasant descents without scraping can be found only in shady valleys above 1300 m, where the first snow (base layer) still remains.

I was skiing at Vogel last week. There is no talk of snow in the valley; even at the top of the cable car, there is barely half a meter, and bushes are sticking out everywhere. There were also a couple of touring skiers, but all of them without exception stuck to the groomed pistes.

Yesterday I finally set off... But I regret itjezenvelik nasmeh

With skis, ascent is possible only from 900 m or better a bit higher... There was not much pleasure from skiing either...

Žagarjev graben is currently a disaster...mrk pogled

Vogel. That was our goal today. We started the hike to it from planina Kuk. The path there was appropriate for the season. From Poljubinj we drove to Ljubinj settlement, there turned left to Planina Razor. On narrow asphalt road to Koča na Planini Stador, but continued on gravel past Planina Lom to planina Kuk starting point, where we parked the vehicle. On the way lots of rocks falling from slopes, branches and leaves. From planina Lom to Planina Kuk even more leaves and ice underneath. From planina Kuk to junction where sign shows path to vas Rut (6 hrs) is dry, from there onwards icy and snowy. From koča on Planina Razor starts for various ascents, but we continued in direction ((Globoko, where after 15 mins turn left), Črna prst, Vogel)). After 30 mins, out of forest and bushes, we donned crampons, ice axe and helmet and tackled the steepness, where snow base was hard and icy, only where drifted snow sank to ankles. At top of saddle where we turn right to Vogel it was windy, but still beautiful sunny day with great views far around. After short photo session we descended to saddle and traversed right under hill »Vrh Krnice« back to starting point, where lots of patience and caution were needed. Snow base softened to ankles due to persistent sun. We did a nice tour and thus gained new experiences.

Hello!
Some clarifications: planina Kuk as stated is wrong. Correct is pl. Podkuk (see map of Mlečne planine in upper Soča valley). In picture 11, in the middle is Rušnati vrh 1869m. Right is ridge to Planja peak 1863m, but not visible. Far left, Meja 1996m slightly visible.
LP and good luck in the mountains!

On Saturday in really beautiful weather I did a traverse of the eastern part of Lower Bohinj Mountains. Started from lower cable car station, then to planina Zadnji Vogel and on to Vogel 1922m. Path then led to Šija, Rodica, Raskovec, all to Črna prst. Ended the tour in front of Mercator in Boh. Bistrica where transport waited.

Today I was with a colleague on Vogel and guess what, no stamp on the summit.jezenjezen
We got it on pl. Razor, where the hut owner told us how they stole the stamp with the iron box some time ago.
I don't know if some idiots really still today, with all this technology, don't know how and whyzmedenzmeden stamps on mountain tops are used.

No worries, the stamp is in place. We were early this morning on the summit, alone in the company of goats. Along the path a wonderful botanical garden.

Two years no contribution here. Since no title fully matched, I'll join. I decided to finally see live how Žagarjev graben looks, which in winter is used for descent to the valley from Vogel ski slope if enough snow and safe to open. The path through it drags on - takes good two hours to planina Spodni Vogel where they herd and even make cheese. The alm is open type. Graben really demanding especially at bends and also steep, only in central part flattens. Then I walked to hut on Vogel and to Marjascu on košutnik. Here I decide to visit Vogel summit which is quite far. Up we come in good two hours. Towards summit even wire ropes. Then decision to return via Komna. Path from summit to hut on Komna long more than four hours. Weather nice to turnoff at planina Pod Bohinjskim Migovcem then rain to Savica. Then still walking to cable car for car. Still it was unique tour.
Target chosen - direction Žagarjev graben. Never seen it before. I know it only from pictures.1
The slopes are well trodden.2
The picture cannot show that steepness and turns. For skiing Žagarjev graben a skier must be really trained and adjust speed to track conditions. Years ago my sister fell hard here. She never skied it again.3
The terrain towards the top surprises me.4
I reach Spodnji Vogel alpine pasture with its dairy. Livestock around the dairy. Open-type dairy. We can have sour milk.5
I reach the hotel on Vogel. Not sure if open yet. Know it stood empty some years. Didn't go close.6
No landscape of ours can be without this.7
I decide for the summit of Vogel.8
I'm already sweating hard here.9
My goal is still far - I later climbed this summit. I don't know its name.10
The summit of Vogel is still quite far.11
Along the path I spot even a shepherd with a flock.12
The ascent to the summit is not so innocent.13
Towards the summit of Vogel.14
Summit of Vogel with stamp and logbook.15
The views around are magnificent.16
I decide to go to Spodnja Komna and down the valley via serpentines. That will be long - four hours to Dom Na Komni.17
The path runs like this.18
Whether this is Globoko, I don't know.19
The path is really beautiful.20
I also cross scree slopes.21
Here I am already above the Pod Bohinjskim Migovcem pasture. I saw the water intake, but no livestock. To the left it turns to Govnač pasture. To the right directly to Dom Na Komni. The sign says 45 minutes.22
From this path Bohinjsko jezero is wonderfully visible. From here no more photos because it started raining. I barely managed to protect the backpack and put on rain gear - pants, rain jacket.23
Now also four best mountain flowers of the tour. Relikanijeva (black) murka found after Vogel summit.24
Pirenejska zmajevka along the entire path from Komna summit to Pod Bohinjskim Migovcem pasture. Zmajevka is not very common, only here are extensive stands.25
Now the highlight - on the path to Dom Na Komni I surprisingly find a stand of protected flowering ropontika. This is its large flower. It is a 70 cm tall plant with large leaves.26
Nearby I also find košutnik - too beautiful to be true.27

Hello!

If anyone is interested in conditions for the approach from pl. Razor to Vogel, here they are. Otherwise they'll last only till tomorrow but worth using. Little snow in this meteorological winter here, little visits too. Snow is transformed. In the morning on the path to summit crampons and ice axe needed. On two traverses to first saddle more caution needed. On saddle under Krnica you can go straight up it. Caution for holes under windblown snow. Usual path safer, last meters to summit a bit "annoying"! But satisfaction on summit much greater! Below photoreportage

Best regards and safe in the mountains!

Sunrise from the ski slope at Vogel can be a really pleasant experience... well and if we add to that Žagarjev graben which is open, then the tour is perfect... descent to the valley was really top-notch big grin
