Started late, only after 4 pm. Parking lot partially occupied, quite a few touring skiers around. Saw some climbing in Begunjščica, most went up the central one. Heading to Vrtača, nice walking along the ridge below Y hard, icy, higher up hard. Watched the slab, which is really huge and could collapse in coming days with thawing. Everything still frozen. Some wind. Didn't stay long on summit due to curfew after 9 pm. Descended the south gully, it had already slid during the day. And long traverse over snowfields back to Ljubelj, home just before 9 pm.

The right branch of Y currently has a smaller jump below the exit...for info, if anyone heads there in the next days.

25.4.2021 very early morning east via Y gully to Vrtača, left branch. Snow fantastic, steps to summit, no issues, second ice axe almost unnecessary. Worth the earlier rise before snow softens.
Descent south, obviously avalanched there a few days ago. No issues.

Today 4.6.2021 check in Završniško if Koča pri izviru is already open. Park at Smokuška. Past Tinčkove through Zagon under snowy Srednji vrh and Šija. Even though the mountain looks almost bare, remaining and future snow patches are nasty windslab traverses, winter gear mandatory. The path is also iced up from everything that fell from the top this year. Bypassed the last nasty steep snowfield to the summit ridge. The hut is open

Today to Vrtača, conditions from Ljubelj to Zelenica BP, then the struggle starts, of course if you're a hiker you posthole, forest debris well trampled, further surprisingly ok, not much snow. Entry to Y narrow and bare in parts, but Y left branch both jumps out, almost bare, can cross. Summit views awesome, on return quick hop to Zelenjak, ... and to Zelenica, ...

There were quite a few up there today. I went from Ljubelj via Zelenica and dry scree up the Y gully, descended via SE ridge. Excellent conditions in the gully, short rocky jump in upper part. Both in gully and on SE ridge well trodden with good steps. Marked summer path also trodden. Early hour recommended, midday snow doesn't hold anymore. On eastern side from dry scree direction also walked up the gully before Y, think it's the left gully. Today also many skiers on Ljubelj-Zelenica-dry scree-Triangel route.

I don't know from which side that path goes up, but viewed from Roblekov dom on Begunjščica no snow patch is visible.
If someone goes from Zelenica to Vrtača on that western side, in my opinion no problem.

On Sunday guide Matjaž took us to Vrtača, 15 of us gathered. We went from Ljubelj to Zelenica. Nice day, long time since I was there, pleasant weather, atmosphere, not too hot, great views. No problems with markings and orientation. Moderate pace of our guide and we enjoyed walking and views. Quite some visitors and all wanted to capture nice motifs on summit and path. Ahead we nicely saw from Srednji vrh, Stol, further along ridge to Kepa. And of course Bled, lake, Galetovec...We descended also to hut at Završnica source, and to hut at Zelenica...Happy for new two-thousander, some first time on Vrtača. Super tour.

A couple days ago someone on FB wrote that path was slippery and bit icy in some parts... Careful.
