I agree with Igor, who as triglavski wrote that ilmeteo is THE BEST

Just now on 24ur they said that on Sunday there will be big avalanche danger, because the snow hasn't bonded to the base yet, of course nice weather and lots of visitors. They also said that the equipment doesn't help much if an avalanche buries you, rather GREAT LUCK. Last year 7 died

that snow after all the thaw wouldn't bond with the base is really a strange forecast from GRS. even stranger are avalanches, since it was south all the way to Kredarica. It snowed only above around 2300m, where up to 35cm of snow fell. Bigger danger threatens from icy slopes covered with new snow, numerous areas of wind-packed snow and icicles, thick crusts, which hinder progress and considerable cold with wind, which at 2500m can exceed the windchill effect on the skin below -30°C!. These are just my findings from observing the recent conditions in the mountains via data, what is specifically on the terrain, everyone must check themselves on the tour.

The statement was given before the passage of the cold front, since yesterday evening there are such conditions everywhere in the mountains: http://www.grzs.si/?MenuID=1&NewsID=1014 In the mountains it is extremely dangerous for slipping everywhere, so to the mountains only with proper equipment. nice weekend

I'm curious which weather forecast to believe, especially regarding current temperatures? Now for a couple of days I've been following Ilmeteo and the forecast is really surprisingly accurate, but I noticed that the temperatures differ quite a bit from Arsa. Who is therefore more accurate?

ARSO in 53.6% of all cases.

Winter fairytale in Ljubljana! Here around 30cm fell and still heavy snow. Some neighbors shoveling snow already. Cheers!

The weekend will be nice and temperatures around 10°C accordingly. Experienced alpinists, what do you say to such temperatures for mountain visits.

I don't count myself as some super experienced mountaineer but still a few words about the thaw. With it, the optimal good conditions for cramponers and trodden paths to our highest peaks are temporarily receding. On northern sides and especially ridge descents, something will trigger in many places ahead. Southern slopes, since they're already quite snow-transformed from sun radiation and frost, will be easier for tourers on ascents and also safer for classic climbs, but only at higher elevations where the snow blanket is thick, lower down even a short thaw soaks it through to the ground, so caution there for slab avalanches. Since it's still pretty cold at night, the snow will stabilize and transform quickly. But with prolonged thaw, the caution level increases anyway, so watch out!. Lp

Let's add a few more percent of iciness due to daytime melting from before, which is already quite sufficient right now.. February = the iciest month. Before spring we'll just slide a bit more..

Don't wait for spring, it won't wait for May . . . . . already tomorrow and a few days after it'll be here. Spring! Sadly without snowdrops and snowbells But spring will wash us, cuz it'll drizzle constantly. Or too much snow and we'll have to stay home

I think it won't be out of place... Warning! Strong wind carrying snow in the mountains has deposited dangerous layers that trigger at the slightest load. "We're talking with a colleague, you think everyone knows what kloža means?" I look at him surprised as he continues: http://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/22167/, I had the chance to meet him, he was my "prof" at uni. Strongly recommend reading his master's thesis: Snow avalanches in Slovenia! So: Kloža is slightly to very firmly bonded snow, usually due to wind. It's somewhat like a crust, but underneath it holds a more or less thick layer of unprocessed snow. On the windward side of mountains, hard klože are more common, on leeward soft ones. If a hard kloža might still hold a skier ascending, a soft one definitely won't, and for hikers both types are hardest, as they sink deeply. When walking over hard kloža, at first it looks like it'll hold our weight, but when we step forward, it breaks and we're knee-deep or deeper in snow. Walking such areas is at least twice as strenuous and time-consuming, though we can help a bit with ski poles. Skiing over soft kloža is somehow ok, over hard it's not pleasant at all. In the middle of a turn, when shifting weight to the lower ski, the snow suddenly collapses and we can flip over instantly, of course with backpack and all gear into deep snow.

... when I check vreme.net, thunderstorms and rain. . Well what can you do, still you set off on the tour in your mind, eh it won't worsen till I'm at the top. But sometimes it doesn't work out ... we were glad that on Saturday 4.6. we safely reached Roblek's hut, from the top towards home it was already pouring on us and lightning quite close. The whole ridge path of Begunjščica had thunder giving us real boosts behind, at times fog so you couldn't see more than a few meters ... adrenaline rush, of course no living soul anywhere, just us and thinking about the worst made it even scarier. The tour was quite long, since we started at Draga hut, then to Preval, Kalvarija - summit - Roblek - Draga. Why am I writing this story? Maybe a lesson for someone not to head into high mountains with such forecast. We'd have needed an hour earlier from the car. But still some nice views for a while and photos still on the camera. And brought home fresh cheese, cream from Preval, mountain honey from Luznar. Safe steps.

@jprim Yeah, that's the eternal problem whether to go or not to the mountains in such weather. For you it ended well, for some in the past not. There have been many fatalities from lightning. And don't think lightning can't surprise you even in the middle of town, like it did me in Celje. In mountains I've also fled from storms, that's mountaineering which sometimes brings unpleasant experiences too. Best regards

When we went with my sister to Zelnarica from the Hut at 7 Lakes, we also experienced a "shower" I won't forget, despite the warden's assurance that weather would be nice, though two clouds were visible in the distance. We admired the flowers, views, didn't look much at the sky. Only when the sun hid did we look and the sky was terrifying dark-gray. Since we were near the summit, we continued. No lightning or rain yet. When we reached the top it started. Fog came down so we couldn't see the logbook box just meters away and it poured like from a bucket. I have to say we were beginners then as far as hills go and sister panicked. She sat down and burst into tears. So I had to stay calm, though I was terribly scared too that lightning would start. Far down the mountain we saw a path leading to Planina pri jezeru. We planned to go via Hribarice to Prehodavci, but took straight down through scrub and rocks off-path to the path that brought us to the planina. Happy it all ended well, next day we went for big pizza and beer by Bohinj Lake. But if it had been a storm with lightning like usual in hills, I probably wouldn't write this today.
