Where do so many mulberries "hide"? It's a really nice black-and-white combination with live-bearing buckthorn and a bit of yellow for livening up. Lp

At Debel vrh, above Planina Laz. I was pleasantly surprised by how many flowers there were at 2400 m a.s.l.

Otiv, Velkavrh, nicely you both have pampered us in this "drought" with your little flowers, since due to lots of rain we can't go to our mountains so much. Otiv, on your little flowers and leaves raindrops adorn bellflower flowers like some Swarovski crystals....and even emphasize the blue of the flower.

Brane, nice that you've checked in again. Coastal flowers are also a nice addition. I hope you're doing well, maybe you're already home in the rain? It's the pale bindweed-head, I think, Kugi was looking for it in Trenta, but it got too cold for it there. Stork's bill belongs to geraniums, but it's very poisonous. my opinion: 16 sage 17 bindweed- Convolvulus althaeoides 18, 19 seaside Inula- Inula crithmoides 21, 22 it reminds me of a type of gromwell or bird's seed- Buglossoides tenuiflora, 23, 24, 25 alfalfa -Medicago sativa Regards

Brane, are you still on Brač? Really interesting flowers. Yellow rockrose also exists in an orange variant, it's been flowering for 3 months already. Inula verbascifolia. Inula is oman, verbascum=mullein, folium=leaf, mullein-leaved oman

May would probably be even more interesting, anyway I have to go to Adriatic islands in coming years for May 1st. I still have some unidentified. When they tell me what they are, I'll post them. Mainly though I didn't find flowers by the coast. More even around the top of Brač-Vidova gora. For example možino and storksbill already.

Brane, we'll learn something again and discover new flowers. If you walked more on the Karst, the Karst germander wouldn't give you trouble in identification. It will soon bloom at my place, if there's any sun. Probably for many plants that don't grow here, we don't have Slovenian names. I see that with ornamental plants, when we "Slovenize" Latin names directly. Teucrium polium - teucrium=germander, polium??? but this plant is very medicinal. For hudoletnica - Conyza, at least for Canadian - Conyza canadensis, I know that it is a synonym suholetnica - Erigeron canadensis. Linaria pelisseriana: linaria is toadflax, pelisseriana got the name after the 16th century bishop - Guillaume Pelisser. Cistus incanus - cistuses are brškin in Slovenian. The most known subspecies is Cretan brškin. It's nice, unfortunately this one doesn't thrive here. Laurel-leaved brškin, which is white, tolerates frost well. We have in our mountains small yellow "cistuses" sončeca=popone, which belong to the same family of brškinovke. Ptilostemon hispanicus, I'd say Spanish ptilostemon. But I read that synonyms are Spanish osat and Spanish bodak. I hope I didn't tire you (and maybe someone else) too much. If my "rambling" gets on your nerves, please tell me and I'll improve.

Apolonija, don't worry that such rambling bothers us, at least I'm very interested and enjoy reading such details regardless of how much of it stays in my brain cells. Anyway, what is written remains, and when curiosity and interest awaken again at some flower, you just look it up again.

Flowers are a fine thing, like a warm stove in winter. I think we're all happy about them, whether thin or fat. It's nice to look at them, to say something about them too, so just write more, Apolonija, so we'll better get to know the flowering paradise.

I found out that the flora of Brač island has never been fully researched. I came across a camp of Slovenian biology students who in 2003-2004 inventoried the flora of Brač and found and identified 188 plants. But I found out that my unidentified knapweed is not among them. They didn't find any knapweed. And there's no pictorial material with it, which is a pity.

otiv, I know the flowers of the Krvavško area very well, because I'm almost at home up there. Last year I botanized all around there including Kalška gora and Kalci. There really grow a huge number of mountain flowers. I've only gotten to no. 38. Since I have time and can't go to the mountains so much anymore, I can spend more time at the computer. no.1-5-Common thistle-Cirsium vulgare no. 5-7-Mountain knapweed-Centaurea montana. We're often in a dilemma with these three blue knapweeds (mountain, Triumfetti's, soft-I don't know it). We know for sure it's mountain by the black-edged involucral bracts (we can argue if they are dark brown or black) 8-9-Narrow-leaved fireweed-Chamerion angustifolium. 10-St. John's wort-Hypericum perforatum. 11-Fruits of common mezereon-Daphne mezereum. 12,13-Six-angled stonecrop-Sedum sexangulare. 14-Silky or chickenfoot-leaved gentian, also candle-Gentiana asclepiadea. 15,17,18-Strict eyebright-Euphrasia stricta. 16,45-Rhodiola rosea. 19,20-Tufted bellflower-Campanula cespitosa. 21,22,23-Thick-stemmed bellflower-Campanula thysoides. There is also a subspecies of thick-stemmed that I've seen-it's very similar. 24-Wood ragwort-Senecio nemorensis. 25-Scheuchzer's bellflower-Campanula scheuchzeri. 25-27-Bavarian masterwort-Astrantia bavarica. The Carniolan is similar, but has a smaller flower. 18-30-Whorled lousewort-Pedicularis verticillata. 31-33-Carinthian mouse-ear-Cerastium carinthiacum subsp. carinthiacum. Identifying mouse-ears is a bit harder. 36-38-Glabrous adenostyles-Adenostyles glabra. Well, for now I've got this far. I allow the possibility that I mistyped some Latin flower name. In my albums I always have Latin names too.

Hi Brane! I can see you're on vacation, I haven't managed to name the flowers yet. Well, I don't know all of them anyway, so your help is veeeeeery welcome. Thanks and have a nice Sunday both of you
