Autumn is in full swing. Only individual mountain flowerbeds still resist morning frosts. These are flowers of the wonderful mountain Klek on Pokljuka.

Apolonija, your garden is something special, that so many roses are blooming now. But I don't see any chrysanthemums, which are characteristic for this time... nice. nasmeh

In the October issue of Planinski vestnik there is a good article on murkas. For now, eight species are confirmed in Slovenia. These are Janez's murka, Widder's murka, Kamnik murka, two-colored red murka, red murka, Austrian murka, moisture-loving murka and Rhellikan's murka (once black - it has been found that black murka grows only in Scandinavia). I've probably seen them all - unfortunately I didn't photograph them accurately, so I can't show them all pictorially.

Everyone probably knows the Kamnik murka - we find it in the Karavanke and KSA - the flower is wider than tall, whitish below.

Rhellikan's is probably also known to everyone - we find it in the Julian Alps and Karavanke - rarer in Karavanke, common in Julian Alps - who hasn't yet smelled the scent of vanilla and chocolate.

Very similar to Rhellikan's murka is the Austrian murka, but we will hardly find it in Slovenia - it is found on Uršlja gora and unconfirmed around Košutnikov turn on the border with Austria. From afar both look black, but up close the Austrian is strongly dark red. I have a picture of this.

In the Julian Alps we will more rarely encounter Widder's murka, which is similar to Kamnik murka - whitish below like Kamnik murka. I found it at four sites in the Julian Alps. We shouldn't list sites of rarer growing murkas.

Then we have two murkas very similar in growth - red murka (Nigritella miniata) and two-colored red murka (Nigritella miniata var. bicolor). While the red is uniformly red, the two-colored is light red and slightly whitish below. These two murkas have an elongated flower and the flower differs significantly in length from other murkas.

Interesting is Janez's murka (Nigritella archidus-jaanis). It is only in the Julian Alps - rare. Color - uniformly pale violet-pink. The flower is low, but narrower than e.g. Kamnik murka.

And finally, the moisture-loving murka. It also grows only in the Julian Alps. But it doesn't grow only on moist as its name suggests. In the early growth phase it is similar to red murka. When the flower fully develops, the difference is clearly visible. The flower is lower, flowers are larger than red - but the inflorescence is wider and much lower than in red murka. I have photos, but from pictures the murka is not recognizable enough.

Anyway, I'll look for them next year. I know the sites of rare species.
This is the Austrian murka.1
We all know Rhellikanovo and it is the most common next to the Kamnik ones.2
Kamniška speedwell.3
Widderova murka - we find it only in the Julians.4
Red murka.5
Two-colored murkas - certainly - photographed in the Julians.6
Janezova murka.7

I've been searching for murkas for years and determining species, which is evident from my previous posts about murkas. These findings are nothing new for me. But I have also found hybrids between murkas and lady's slipper.

otiv, I'd say it's from a gentian, maybe Fritsch's. You should photograph the rosette too for easier ID. nasmeh
