On 17.6. we ascended from Ljubelj to the hut at Zelenica, which is nicely renovated. From Zelenica we headed towards Vrtača, where we turned off the path into the valley of Suhega ruševja. The junction is not specially marked but can be found. The path was unmarked but easy to follow and interesting. First we climbed Palec, which is not too demanding, but helmet recommended. Then ascent to Zelenjak, which is more demanding, at least in path following. We descended via scree and thus very quickly into the valley.

Current conditions under Zelenjak and Palec are great nasmeh

. Today was a gorgeous day (i.e. morning); unbelievable "climatic" change from Dom na Zelenici onwards - imperial weather for the mountains nasmeh

. Through Suhega ruševja valley on lower path across scree on west side of Zelenjak to summit, descent back to saddle and ascent on visible path to Palec. Back on upper path across scree velik nasmeh

- who would think it would be great! nasmeh

Palec or perhaps old Zelenica - and the cross IS old :)

they don't smell otherwise, but they are nice, right?!

Today's free Monday I head to Palec and Zelenjak. Instead of from Ljubelj I choose Tinčkov dom as start (????), because I haven't been to this end from that side. Road from Završnica is fine, doesn't allow speeding though. When closed pasture gate stops me, due to not knowing the regime here I turn back a bit and park. Later clear it wasn't planned start, as I could drive further and park much higher. Anyway no regret, extra 30 min walk good for stretching legs.

Otherwise path OK, even unmarked part well trodden (up through Suho rušje, down traverse scree above it) and followable, no orientation issues.

Due to very weighty reasons mežikanje

we lay a bit longer today and thus treated ourselves to something shorter. Since last time I was there alone, we decide for a joint repeat.

Start Tinčkova koča (last part of road quite rough, but if not overdoing and careful, car ok too).

Further excellent... even on this usually less crowded end quite some people... Weather nasmeh

At end excellent šprenjl, buckwheat dumplings and sauerkraut in hut at Završnica spring...

In short, wonderful trip if no time or will for full day tour.

Today's gloomy weather in the valley drove me hunting for sun. At Ljubelj 3 degrees, at mid cable car station (deceased) fog and Zelenica gloomy too. At that rocky outcrop under Suhi ruševje the fairy tale starts. Sunny and warm. First to Zelenjak then also to Palec. On return cloud line dropped below Zelenica saddle and on the way back I drowned in fog again.

Stamp on both summits, but on Palec you have to try as it's unstuck from holder. Have stamp pad with you!

Yesterday's weather wasn't exactly the most favorable, but we still decided for the trip. Start at Ljubelj to Zelenica, on to Zelenjak where we visit both peaks, thick fog accompanies us, then to Palec where strong wind joins... Original plan was along the ridge to Zelenica, but due to strong wind gusts we drop the idea because none of the seven knew the path... Just before the hut at Zelenica we climb Triangel, some to Spodnji Plot too, where we watch diligent PD Tržič members preparing wood for winter season, a four-legged friend keeps them company... Then along the ridge to Stari Ljubelj, no views at all, fog

...on the way we also visit Povno Peč and to the hut and descent by road to Ljubelj.... Nice, very nice path, hope to hike it soon with good visibility.... nasmeh

there's another peak beyond... we don't know how to reach it..

on the descent from Palec it cleared a bit..

hoped for views, but in vain.. on the contrary, everything closed up..

Yesterday's weather was really favorable for last autumn hikes in fully dry conditions. Sun still had some power, really pleasant to sit a bit on soft moss there above dry scree. velik nasmeh

Today a quick trip to Suho Ruševje for ski touring.
Weather held, initially gorgeous, later haze and mountain wind in higher altitudes. Almost no avalanche activity, only in directly exposed south faces. Krnica and below Zelenica stayed frozen. Strange that some hikers don't understand the rule of walking on the hiking path and not trampling the ski track, clear case today. Hiker below, 15m higher separate track all punctured. I feel that someone is doing it for fun. Tour very nice, but to Suho Ruševje only in stable snow conditions. LP! nasmeh

On the right a perforated tower spur, bottom left a hardened hiking trail?!

Long ski descent to the valley, even though only 1000m altitude difference

Ljubelj, Zelenica hut, Zelenjak, Palec, along Ljubeljščica ridge, Povna Peč, Stari Ljubelj, Ljubelj. Heat finally eased a bit, tour in great weather start to end. To Zelenjak left through scree, from Palec via scree slope. Plenty hikers. At old Ljubelj hut still good "štrudel".

Yesterday we finally did the long-planned tour to Zelenjak and Palec. We started in the sun at Ljubelj, which warmed us to the Zelenica hut. Then the path to Vrtača. The branch to Zelenjak and Palec is marked by a small cairn. nasmeh

Though pathless to the peaks, the trail is so well worn there's no worry of getting lost. Dew made the path wet, mists rising to summits so peaks mostly foggy. The scree to Zelenjak is cut, path very good. But joyfully sun on top. Down to the col from Zelenjak then traceable path to Palec. Gentian bunches along the way. Stamp at Palec top on chain but lower part gone, get it at Zelenica hut. Sun warmed us on Palec too despite fog around. Back to Zelenica upper path over screes, quickly at hut. Fog cleared, admired peaks in sun for goodbye. Wonderful day.

A couple of today's snapshots from Palec and Zelenjak... Nice day and still quite good skiing down. Snow softens quickly where the sun is and it's worth leaving home early. Shady parts are still very hard to ski even later. nasmeh

Took advantage of the nice weather, so from Ljubelj, past the Zelenica hut, first to Zelenjak, then also to Palec. Under both summits there are still quite a few nasty snow fields, so the ice axe was really handy. The cross on Zelenjak is broken, and there's no stamp for a while. At the summit no wind, warm and beautiful views. Met five hikers near the hut.
