Majda - tell me, where you turn onto the upper path across the scree; I went through the brushwood, but I got scared I'd get lost in it and turned back.

How will you get lost Janez, it's such a trampled trail, no problem with direction.

...Janez past the hut and signpost, stick to the path. Then watch on the right there's soon a very small cairn (I added a photo) and path straight up. At the start it's full of roots and you're on the upper path. Below you can follow right next to the path through the brushwood.

@janez .... additional explanation. At that cairn in pic 5 from Majdag there are two variants continuing towards Suho ruševje. The one you're asking about (scree) turns right after the tree at the junction sharply right and over trampled roots of brushwood towards the scree. That path is less visible. Better visible is the one that doesn't turn so sharply right. That goes through brushwood and is nicely traceable. The annoying brushwood someone recently cleared further on.

Can ya get Janez somehow under Thumb and Zelenjak Last year the path through brushwood was widely cleared of branches. Before it was really a bit tighter, some branch would grab the backpack a bit. Now it's like a "highway" you walk it without problems. But I'm wondering, can't you find the branch-off into that cirque, or are you afraid how you'll follow the path after? Maybe easiest would be to go up out through brushwood and down out over scree.

Thanks everyone for the advice, if I go I'll post it on the forum. Given that I've been agonizing over this path for a long time I'll have to hit the trail pretty soon.

This Pikica made me burst out laughing at her comment, my colleague even asked why I'm laughing out loud. But it's true, Janez got so many tips he has to go check them right away.

pikica1 and all who gave me advice - today I was on Palec and also on Zelenjak. The path is actually more traceable than many marked ones, just below the Palec summit one needs to be a bit careful (orientation) at the rock jump, similar to the path to Zelenjak just shorter (60m climb). Both paths are well trodden. When the path at the start branches from the path to Vrtača, the path on scree branches sharply right over roots and then no issues. Thanks again all for advice and courage.

Well, it worked out, it's really cool that you went, so we don't have to explain some stuff for three days Now you'll probably go up more often. These peaks have everything the big ones have. A bit of brush, scree, chimney under the summit, and a bit of scramble for the rock

Of course I'll go, as pikica1 says despite small height they have everything like big mountains. Maybe I made too much fuss but still better than arguing.

strelec1954 - nice tour, nice pics, nice description you made up. Years ago colleague and I on Vrtača ravens awaited us at top. On ground by packs chocolate and suddenly raven grabs whole big piece. Still remember colleague: "Poor her", "Why" I ask. "Poor thing 14 days can't shit it'll block her" Good luck have fun!

I'm reading the descriptions and they excited me so much that we're heading out with the family on Saturday when the weather looks nice. Do you recommend Palec first or Zelenjak first, and how much time do we need for both, we usually hike faster than the times on the markers. Also, can you get to the Završnica spring from this path somewhere? Thanks

Grenaleva - from wherever you go you could get there in two and a half hours. Order doesn't matter, since from the saddle Na Rušju it's not far (100m up to Palec, from the saddle on the west side of Zelenjak only about 60). Završnica spring is between Zelenica and Tinčkova hut, so I think you have to go back to Zelenica to the cable cars and then westwards.
