Cairns always come in handy, especially in hills, mountains that are not numerically tourist-besieged!!! Various rabble from valleys has sneaked into hills too, which litters, steals and destroys in hills mrk pogled

how far we've come!!!

I agree with @ločanka. A few small cairns – pyramids of stones shouldn't bother anyone on the path, they are just a help to all hikers and also alpinists. I myself last set up some stones for the direction Kukovi prodi under Kukova špica. Most of us had descriptions or sketches of some ascent or ridge crossing in hands, which generations before us did. All who are against cairns, cut branches and more in mountains, be also against pegs in the wall, against all guide literature and go to direction without anything. Make your new paths without description and selfishly hide them, no one forbids you that. Some on this portal do that too, give reader only notice where they were, about technical details of the tour nothing. 'Thank God', that path authors PP, Mihelič, Prle, Marko Kern and some more in Slovenia weren't selfish, they left quite a lot of literature with path descriptions and ascent directions for generations coming after us.

I have good experiences with cairns from Tosca summit, when dense fog suddenly appeared. On this path it would be welcome at the junction, especially for those who decide for this path first time. We informed the warden at Zelenica, he said he heard someone tore it down.

Yesterday on Zelenjak and Palec. Conditions, path and weather, wonderful. At the junction there is a small cairn, so no fear of missing it.

Today visited both peaks, first to Palec then also Zelenjak. The cairn where you turn into the dry scree is slowly but steadily growing. Path without peculiarities, but it cooled down a bit compared to the previous day.

Ljubelj, Zelenica, Zelenjak and Palec. Nice day with beautiful views far away. Almost no hikers except two gentlemen on Palec and a few went to Vrtača. nasmeh

Today also I to Zelenjak and Palec. Start at Ljubelj, over Zelenica to both peaks and back the same way to the starting point.
Once I missed the turn-off for the route to Suho ruševje, then on the way back found the much-mentioned cairn. I ascended through the valley over the scree. For a while it's quite unpleasant among the scree and sometimes deep snow, higher up it goes. I descended via the upper path over the scree slope. This path is really right for descent, for ascent I don't recommend it.
There are snow patches in several places, but they don't cause problems. The path is well trodden. Didn't need winter gear.
For December it was very warm, especially in the sun, views excellent.

From Ljubelj past the hut at Zelenica first to Zelenjak then also to Palec. Up through scree, down over scree slope. Snow patches not an obstacle. Fog just before Ljubelj, higher up sun. Four went to Palec, towards Zelenjak I noticed no one.

Yes you're right, we met there where you wrote, it must be about three years ago..
If we intended to go to Zelenjak, we would take the same as you.....is there more snow patches on the way to it or similar situation. Unfortunately work obligations were chasing us. zavijanje z očmi

We met in September 2013. As for snow, Zelenjak is almost snow-free.

Today to Zelenjak, without Palec. I'd be lying if I said it didn't freeze me properly. Snow dry and windblown, from the foot of Zelenjak there could be more of it to help yourself easier with ice axe, crampons on rocks can be quite dangerous. With Metod we somehow managed, the youngest Dejan wisely decided and waited below. At the hut on Zelenica full of course participants. A smaller group also went to Vrtača. The wind really got on our nerves, and I forgot my goggles at home.
