Bretterscharte is a saddle at an altitude of 2603 meters located in the High Tauern mountain range. The saddle is located 1.3 km southeast of peak Brennkogel. The nearest mountain hut is Tüchelhütte, located 3km north-northeast. A little further is Information Bricciuskapelle. 7 km west-southwest of the saddle there is lake Sandersee. 1.9 km northwest from the saddle there is glacier Brennkogelkees, 9 km northwest from the saddle there is also glacier Hochgruberkees. The saddle is located west-northwest of the valley Großfleißtal.
