Steinkarkopf is 2740 meter high peak and is part of the Zillertal Alps. The peak is located 4 km west-northwest of peak Wildgerlosspitze. The nearest mountain hut is Zittauer Hütte, located 5km east. bivouac Neugersdorfer Hütte is a bit further away. 5 km east of the peak there is lake Unterer Gerlos See. 2 km east-southeast from the summit there is glacier Schönachkees, 3 km northeast from the summit there is also glacier Ebener Kees. The peak is located north of the valley Hundskehle.
