In this thread I will post everything related to my #40descents project.

It is currently in a phase of slight delay, but justified, as it is connected to the current poor conditions.

So far I have done two descents, both rated III-; Jalovčev ozebnik in Pršic and South gully on Vrtaca in southern snow, for which in these conditions III+ would be more appropriate.

Already impatiently waiting for descent #3.

Elan also responded to my project and supported me with skis from the Spectrum series.

In a lack of time, Begunjščica is always a good choice.

Lots of people at Zelenica, where avalanche safety courses and other workshops were going on.
Those who headed to the summit today all went through the Central Gully, first Klemen and Mato, then M&M, then Darja, Tom, Brane and me.

At the top fog you could cut with a knife, strong wind but warm. Thaw has well softened our hills. Snow in the upper part super, in the middle too. After gully exit slush starts getting worse, ending at the car as a stream. nasmeh

Snow grabs skis even if well waxed, so watch out.. nasmeh

Finished the #40descents project too:

If we were looking last time, today I really found some more nasmeh

Skied from Prednje Robičje directly to Erjavčeva koča, then with Andraž also Pripravniško.

Conditions in the morning ok, forenoon a bit crusty, in the gully excellent.

Lately we've been having lots of fun around Zelenica and its surroundings. This morning we had to push quite a bit to Ljubelj, it helps if you have 4x4 nasmeh

Quite powdery.

Not much snow, but more than last week in the Karavanke, so I decided to go check.
Classic approach - along the ski trail to the hut, then through the forest and onwards along the scree - as soon as you get out of the forest, the minefield starts. The middle part is quite windblown, so on the ascent I went there on foot, then onwards on skis. Below Ozebnik some settled powder, mostly crusty snow, some icy crust too.

Across Ozebnik maybe possible with crampons, I went on foot. The exit is icy and sprinkled with mines, to the cornice above it's hard and partly icy.

Skiing though... up top fight for survival, central part windblown but much better than the rest, so OK. nasmeh lower part hard again. On the scree be careful, don't get too relaxed because it can pin you quickly.

If necessary, you can ski something, but I'd recommend "scree" skis, or the next snow dump.

Good luck nasmeh

Over the Mojstrovke to Travnik, could have gone to Jalovec too if you hadn't twisted your ankle... Away from the Vršič more or less tourist crowd, this went through my head: nasmeh

http://www.simonerjavec.com/2016/07/pocutiti-se-zivega.html

Least pleasant part of the path is the return via Mala Mojstrovka to the summit, when most tourists are just ascending, the path is ''churned'' - worst below Vratci. The rest... enjoyment nasmeh

A bit different adventure on Stol - day ended with two ascents and lost car key nasmeh

Path without peculiarities.

(Blog from now on for summer season in Slovenian. Blog has some other stuff too - Triglav and a couple of trifles.)

Yes! Second and third pitch we varied a bit, the rest more or less on route, but added one more chimney nasmeh

On Saturday with Andraž climbed in Srebrnjak, had super luck with weather, enjoyed views of solitary peaks and big clouds. For those seeking solitude and peace, this valley is definitely worth visiting.

Jezersko-Češka koča-Žrelo-Ledine-Ledinski vrh off trail and back to Jezersko over Slovenska pot.

Beautiful loop trail where you find peace, solitude and great views.

Path over Žrelo currently dangerous due to falling rocks, so Slovenska pot recommended. Snow starts under glacier, but mix snow/dry ground... We went up fully on left dry side off trail, back down on snow...

Geovuky, thanks!

Marko, for ratings on this forum, especially since it's a layman's forum, I don't worry about them nor am I dependent on them, but I'm still interested in the justification of the bad rating... If nothing else, what's so very wrong smile

It's true, even if I posted my best photos on this forum, there'd always be some patient... Despite being well received in photo circles wink

Since the forum is intended for the general public and mountain conditions, I also post worse photos showing the state in the mountains and the moments we experience up there.

Best,
Simon

PS: Thanks to the one who always rates my pics with the worst possible score, surely justified nasmeh

Yesterday we were chasing probably the last enjoyable fresh snow of this year... and so at 3.30 we drove towards Vršič, where we parked at Šrauf's cairns.
Our Actionmam group had five: Matej, Primož, Klemen, Anže and me, the first confidently set the direct track towards Grebenec... the rest catching up as best they could nasmeh) Matej, Klemen and Primož skied from Great Mojstrovka towards Little, apparently the descent was good! Anže and I went towards Little at a more photographic pace. And experienced one of the most wintry days of the season in our mountains... Strong gusts of wind, light snowfall and fog created winter despite spring.
Descent from MM was OK, slightly hard but just right for long turns and a few pics! The group of five met at the saddle above Vratci and skied together on the best possible slush towards the cars.

Today Klemen, Anže and I went again to those parts, but to the NE side of MM, where we skied the right variant of Pozabljene. Snow in the couloir real Chamonix, below it quickly turns to concrete, which on the avalanche above Vršič turns into crusty slush...

The road yesterday, right after our arrival at the cars (luck, some unfortunately didn't have it) they plowed to the top, today the grader was working and the road will soon be ''publicly'' open.

Best,
Simon

I was on the Big one, but conditions are similar. (they were yesterday).

Snow starts already at Vršič so you can ski from car to car. Routes in Little Mojstrovka except Pripravniška are not groomed... lower part of Župančičeva is groomed, but summit part is rocky. Path over Grebenec is normal.

Snow base varies... slush/ice so unpleasant. I skied towards Little Mojstrovka then through Pripravniška, but misjudged the jump and tumbled down the whole gully.. Not interesting therefore. On the slide some good turns can be found.

Tomorrow conditions will of course be completely different, up there it's blowing nasmeh)
