A Bernese Mountain Dog bit my thigh while I was walking on the local road past an isolated house in the Škofja Loka hills. The dog was unleashed and came onto the road and grabbed me. I was totally shocked because I had headphones on and my mind was elsewhere, so I noticed it only when it was already biting me; it also tore my pants leg.
The owner came to the house balcony and chased it back to the yard; on my informing her about the bite, she just said: "A ja?"
Nothing, couldn't she at least offer some help, damn it, at least bring gauze and alcohol since I'd told her her dog had bitten me
Since then I always have spray in my pocket, and I've already used it three times. I'd say the dog really smells fear and then goes for you.
I'm still so damn sorry that I didn't report it then and possibly file a civil suit to hit them in the pocket. But I was simply too shocked, as I'd lived 40 years without a dog bite despite many farm dogs that had already barked at me on mountain trails.
A ja, and it hurt me for almost five months there where the bite was.
