Today on Storžič pleasant -13 with little wind. Light snow flurries, rocks a bit slippery.

Due to injury of one climbing partner descent wasn't safe. While waiting if we could treat the injury to descend safely, the snow also deteriorated heavily. No other choice. GRS guys said it was the only smart move.

Snow conditions in the morning ideal, but due to fairly high temperatures and sun they deteriorate quickly. By 10am it's good to return already below the ridge wall. Quite little snow so climbing is often difficult, snow breaking on rocks when you don't know there's rock below, rocks rolling when you step up due to too little snow, etc.

Can one reach the planica or is the path to it closed?

3.4.2016. Past Javornik pasture, then to some gully I don't know name. Back down with skis.

We were diligent and started a bit earlier. 1 skier and 3 hikers. At the top before sunrise. Wonderful day, a bit windy but warm. Snow firm to Turski gully, in the gully total water. But with some jumping at turns it was skiable.

Despite initial hesitation due to fog, we decided to go to the top. And it paid off. More in the pictures.
Conditions: -10 with wind, gusts quite strong, up to 45km/h. Snow was hard in places, soft like flour in others.

Winter fairytale on Begunjščica. In Slovenia winter is way too short (at least for me)

Conditions: New snow blown away, in the gully a bit of ice, a bit of windpacked snow. Towards the top of the gully and on the ridge frozen snow or ice. In the morning there was still strong wind.

Yesterday ski touring on Kal Ridge, via Zvoh. Snow conditions excellent, very warm and little wind.

5.2.16. Very windy, lots of new snow in drifts up to 4m high. Where snow is blown off it's icy snow.

Some photos from today's ascent. Since I was first it was sinking up to my ass as expected, snow falling from trees and bushes, last 300m solid ice, so crampons won't hurt.

Has anyone been to Špik in the past few days? What are the conditions?
