This morning to Špik via Kačji graben. Great tour on a sunny Sunday, screes no issue under snow. Snow from ca. 1800 m (before screes) to top just 10 m dry path (you know... "Not yet for sandals"). Base sinks 10-20 cm at start so find firmer, higher more frozen, last part icy (ice axe, crampons!). Don't know after 9 am snow base, on return still in shade and frozen.

Yesterday via Slovenska to the summit. The day was like painted. To the branch for the ridge, snow frozen on top but sinks in certain spots. From the branch for the ridge to gully entry conditions anything but winter.. half the time on rocks and grass, half on frozen snow. On the way back around 12 in that part thaw and snow sinks to knees.
From gully start to top conditions excellent. Snow frozen at least till 12.

Tour not easy, so whoever goes up carefully and smartly I have some pics on camera, so if anyone needs more on conditions I can add later. Cheers

I was at the summit yesterday too, apart from the wind in the gully the conditions were super. Snow nicely frozen, with crampons from Prižnica onwards no problem.
A few observations..
1: If 10 people here write that the road to Valvasor hut is icy and dangerous.. is it so hard to walk those 30-40 min? If you can't walk, stay home.
2: Cotton tracksuit and chain crampons are not gear for midwinter Stol. Then you wonder why accidents happen.
3: Ice axe... If you don't know what it is, google it.. it can come in handy if something goes wrong.

Anyone been to the top in recent days? Assume conditions good in morning hours

Those who complain about dogs off leash... I don't know why a dog should be on a leash if there's no one around. Probably most of these dogs are better trained than you... maybe someone should put you on a leash sometimes.

Today on Skuta from Konec via Žmavcarje. Before entering the climbing section there are still three snowfields.. the first is not problematic at all because we bypass it on the upper side, the second can be crossed without issues, at the third right before the wall you have to watch out (about 10 m). The rest is dry
If you plan to visit some bivouac it's already quite crowded even during the week.. bivouac under Grintovec was reportedly packed full with Czechs today (they slept outside too) under Skuta there were also about 5 people. lp
