On Tuesday 28.7.2020 we headed again to this end of our beautiful mountains and this time did the tour (almost) to the end

We tackled the ridge our way, skipped the first part and started at the saddle between Lopa and Vršiči pod Lopo (Forca sopra Medon). From there, the steep west slope of Lopa, continued along the ridge all the way to Grdi and Hudi Vršič, then descended along the east ridge to the col between Hudi Vršič and Velika Črnelska špica. Here our ridge walking ended, the ascent of the west ridge of VČŠ didn't seem "needed", so we took the marked path, then over Mala Črnelska špica down the ridge to the valley and in scorching heat back to Prevala, then to Neveo.

One of my favorite ridge traverses, solitary, scenic, quite comfortable, with lots of interesting flora and of course history. Maybe third time lucky and next time we do it fully, as planned.

5.7.2020 Visoka Bela špica and Trbiška Krniška špica

Approach to Zgornja škrbina Belega potoka (Forcella Alta di Riobianco) as Drago before us, up the Trincea gully (Canale della Trincea). Turned into scree too early and got a bit lost, but quickly found the right path or gully. Easy scrambling between, on and under boulders all the way to the saddle. Then ascent on normal path to VBŠ and of course descent same way. Continued the tour over Male špice or on Pot Stoletnice to Trbiška škrbina. From the saddle then also to TKŠ, only really nasty spot is that exposed ledge where there's a long prusik installed, but still can be problematic. Apart from unbearable heat on the path no peculiarities, pure enjoyment from morning to evening.

Yesterday's rush to Rokavs, probably more than 20 of us up there.
Definitely take advantage of good conditions for access via couloir while snow lasts. No snow elsewhere except in couloir.

6.6.2020 | Colleague really wanted visit to Mrzla gora via famed Hudi prask, happy to join. This time no sign of snow, except Latvica where despite snow no ice axe used. Path otherwise unremarkable, maybe note that due to heavy rain lately path to Okrešelj one big stream. Unfortunately no views but oh well, great hike

22.02.2020 - gully between Velika Baba and Ledinski vrh

Due to lack of snow both jumps in the gully are icy, cca 7-8m. The gully itself ok, steepness doesn't ease up, second jump adds variety, a bit harder than the first. Rope and a screw don't hurt, stances above both jumps are set up.
We descended via Jezersko saddle to Ledine and scratched down through Žrelo. Due to ice and rock cannonade, recommend early start

@lijaneja yes that's right, nothing to properly kick or step into, maybe someone more experienced would say otherwise, but to me it was too much of an obstacle, especially thinking about the descent

Since conditions have changed in the meantime, unfortunately this post won't help much, but still

Real winter conditions start only below Velika Dnina. In Dnina there was quite a bit of new, wind-blown snow on Saturday, higher in the gullies, perfect conditions, nicely consolidated, great for whooping! Unfortunately we didn't reach the summit, because due to conditions we decided it wouldn't be smart to climb the last step under the roof - a return by the same route would be iffy No big deal, we enjoyed it maximally!

21.9.2019 Ridge traverse Mahavšček - Podrta gora

The lower Bohinj mountains have caught our eye several times when Leo and I were soaking in Lake Bohinj last summer months. But there was no standout peak we wanted to step on, except Podrta gora. This peak pulled along the "whole project" that we carried out on Saturday. We planned a tour along the ridge separating Primorska to the south and Gorenjska to the north – from Mahavšček (Veliki Bogatin) all the way to Podrta gora. Unfortunately no time further, so we skipped Vrh nad Škrbino and saved it for "old age". Nevertheless, we hiked almost 13 hours and covered everything planned!

@ales50 thanks for the info! So probably an Austrian grenade? I know Italians shelled Fort Hermann from these parts, the reverse direction was much harder I assume.

1.9.2019 - Hudi Vršič and Lopa

It's sometimes nice to take time for an exploratory tour without an exact goal. Well, the path is the goal in the end, right? We rarely go on a "bluff"; we didn't go on a bluff this time either, but we didn't study it well, so it all turned out very Sunday-like - freely after Prešeren. So we didn't do the full traverse but explored enough for it to go more smoothly next time

Others have described it all. The ferrata itself is really nicely fixed up, but the continuation to Strug, nicely said "in poor condition". Clear why it's closed. No joke

For the whole tour Belopeška jezera-V Koncu špica-Vevnica-Strug-Zadnja Ponca-Srednja Ponca-Visoka Ponca-Belopeška jezera, we needed almost 11 hours.

20.7.2019 Kot-Dimniki-Luknja peč-Rjavina-Kot

More or less similar path as predecessors. No special features on the way, one snow patch under Rjavina, which can be bypassed. Unfortunately enjoyed too much and couldn't descend over Vrbanove to Kot

29.6.2019 Southern ridge of Kočna (Na Križu, Kokrska & Jezerska Kočna, Grintovec)

From Suhadolnik over beautiful southern ridge to Kočne, descent via Grintovec. No special features on the path, the path from Suhadolnik to Kokrsko sedlo is quite eroded by torrents, but normally passable. Only snowfield on the path is on SW slopes of Grintovec, with a bit of ingenuity it can be easily bypassed.
