I don't know how long these conditions will last, but this afternoon the queue to Tarvisio stretched a good part of the way from Fužine. At the roundabout there's a roadblock to Austria and then everything funnels into that one slow bend, so there was a wait in both directions (towards Slovenia only through Tarvisio).

If anyone is coming from the Karnics, I recommend the bypass under the ski slopes, which leads directly to the junction of the Predel-Tarvisio road to Slovenia. That way you avoid the town and most of the jam. At least according to the map... it starts one exit before the roundabout on the western side of the town.

With some delay, for possible repeaters. In the first half of April I was in Madrid, which is already relatively high itself, nice mountains are just a stone's throw away and can be visited casually. To the north, the first more interesting group is La Pedriza.

In Madrid you can buy area maps (1:25,000) in the sports store barnabas (something like that) on the same street in the center where the El Rastro market takes place on Sundays. There are several outlets there, but only this slightly larger one has maps in the basement.

It's less than an hour's ride by bus (bus 724, platform 26 at Plaza Castilla, direction Pinar de Chamartin), which runs quite frequently. Get off in peaceful Manzanares el Real, at the "main" station right after the castle by the road (there's one more by the lake). Across the road is a larger grocery store for possible restocking.

Some trails start already here, but almost nothing is marked. Most hikers start at the inn a couple km higher (Canto Coccino), where there are also signs. A free bus from the town goes there several times a day. There are plenty of trails in front and back Pedriza and many are marked. But you have to be careful, as there are lots of shortcuts, unmarked junctions and misleading cairns. The boulder landscape is ideal for some scrambling, and it's also a world-famous climbing area. Almost by the river is the only hut, which is usually open only on weekends.

The highest peaks barely exceed 2,000m, the background is slightly higher, so it's usually mostly snow-free here early in spring. On the first visit we did a circular tour to the highest peak in front Pedriza — El Yelmo. To the very summit you have to squeeze through a longer chimney on the north
side, for which the II rating (summitpost?) seemed exaggerated to me.

A couple of days later a longer circular through back Pedriza, past the ridge/peaks La Milanesa, Dos Torres, sphinx etc.

Don't go in summer. nasmeh

Yes, you also have it drawn on OpenStreetMap and in the implementations.

... in the direction of Škrbina, so there's no mistake.

Best to go up the road, so you avoid the steep sections and at the same time see what the conditions are like. Then depending on your assessment, back the same way or the direct footpath.

I came from the other side. nasmeh

First I thought of Mohor, but I don't remember it being so cut off.

Bohinj Migovec?

Landscape parks are barely protected, so it's not surprising. That would be surprising if it was inconsistent with the management plan or if this sub-area was classified differently, e.g. as a nature reserve.

Peter is right.

An easier one.

Start of Zajmenove peči?
lynx17. 11. 2025 18:56:27
That's it, on the connecting path between the ski slope and the upper transverse path.

Bohinj ends, that's right. The path is a natural continuation of the recently maintained path.

Not near Tržič either.
