Knivskjellodden, in the municipality of Nordkapp in Norway, with geographical position 71°11′8″N, 25°40′54″E is the northernmost point of the island Magerøya and is therefore considered the northernmost point of the European continent. Although Nordkapp is known as the northernmost point of mainland Europe, Knivskjellodden lies about 1500 meters further north and is reachable by land only on foot. The island Magerøya is connected to the mainland by an undersea tunnel.
The trail to Knivskjellodden starts at the parking lot located about 5 km before Nordkapp. The entire trail round trip is a little less than 18 km long. According to the map, the elevation difference is 300 m. However, since the trail rises and falls a bit, it adds up to about 400 meters down and then back up. The trail first leads about 3 km northwest then quite sharply turns north. In good weather the trail is not demanding, but sometimes it gets lost and it's not quite clear where it runs. Therefore it can be quite demanding orientation-wise in bad weather. Also characteristic are quite rapid changes in visibility. We had nice weather with plenty of views, so we spent almost 7 hours on the whole trail.

Now that we're locked in our municipalities it's also time to revive memories. That's why I'm uploading some pictures from Camino Frances, which my wife and I walked in August-September 2018. For the trail we needed 46 days, 43 days of walking and 3 rest days in larger cities, Pamplona, Burgos, Leon. Per day we averaged about 20 km, max 28 km and min 6 km. In 2018 I was still quite a “fresh” diabetic and had quite a few problems with hypo-low blood sugar on the trail. Because of this limitation we also used a taxi for 15 km around Portomarina. Camino Frances is especially the last 100 km before Santiago quite touristy. Which besides occasional crowds that get on your nerves has advantages too. A comfortable private room is very welcome after the previous almost sleepless night due to loud snoring in the shelter. And various little buffets in the villages where a bocadillo - sandwich and freshly squeezed orange juice come in very handy. Pictures depict the landscape on Camino Frances from the initial Pyrenees crossing to the goal in Santiago de Compostela.

Legendary hutkeeper Francl from the hut under Špička wrote (picture). For me the time has come for manageable hillocks with not too many elevation meters. Therefore I thank all who post pictures and comments from your hikes, with which I can relive memories.

The view on how old pictures we can post on this forum depends on what information we're looking for. If I'm wondering what the current conditions on a certain trail are, it's obvious that two-month-old pictures don't show current conditions. However, if like me we enjoy beautiful shots from the mountains, then two-month-old pictures are welcome too. I also think that any kind of limiting posts on this forum, or determining which posts are "right" and which aren't, would be harmful. Except limiting when it comes to deliberate rude and offensive posts.

The days of my hikes to higher mountains are over. That's why I'm really grateful to everyone who posts pictures, so I can relive memories a bit.

I use this app for route planning assessment.

https://web.locusmap.app/en/

In the app you can draw the selected route and get data on route length and meters of ascent and descent.
But there are no difficulty markings on the maps like on alpine-hiking maps. The advantage is that the map is quite accurate and covers practically the whole world.
I have the Locus Map app installed on my smartphone too and must say at least for Slovenia that the paths on the map quite accurately match the paths in nature.

Before I photographed them I shouted Line up! And they posed like this. Yeah this year you can go to the forest to pick mushrooms again, not search for them.

oldtimer 55, wonderful pictures. For such pictures - views it's worth leaving the warm coffee and heading out into the cold.

Today to Slavnik from Skadanščina. Snow starts a bit before halfway but little of it. Can walk without crampons. At the top snow is windblown. Today it was windy at the top but exceptional views across whole Istria and towards Julian Alps, Carnic Alps and Dolomites.

Becar, first thanks for the patient answer. Yes, it's hard to decide whom to trust. I, based on my experiences, trust official medicine. But I don't claim to trust all doctors. Also here we have some greedy ones who sell various potions to oncology patients. Which isn't hard because the more hopeless the situation the more ready to believe in miracles. Regarding vaccination we won't agree easily because everyone first believes self and own conviction. What we can do is talk patiently about it and try to understand other's arguments even if not convincing to us.

Becar I will answer you based on my experiences. As long as you're healthy you can be full of doubts which doctor to trust. I in 2014 spent half a year lying in the Oncology Institute and didn't ask anything who to trust and just wished the pains stop. And I'm still grateful to the staff and doctors at OI for all the poisons they dripped into my veins. That's why I'm quite angry when on TV or in newspapers I read that oncology patients have to wait for free beds because all capacities occupied by covid patients. Especially angers me that 70% of hospital capacities occupied by people who didn't want to vaccinate. And what to do when right not to vaccinate and right to oncology treatment collide. For oncology patients I know late is mostly too late.

Yesterday from the Karavanke looked towards Mojstrovke and it was quite white under the wall of M. Mojstrovka. But I think there shouldn't be problems on the path to Slemen. Snow on the path to Trupejevo poldne starts only at 1800 m and only patches in the shade.

Becar I don't intend to prove what I read. On this forum there are people who will believe me on my word and also people who won't believe me even with evidence. The simplest is for you to read the book yourself and check what's true and what isn't.

The same quote as gely posted, Becar. In his post it said:
"This fragment is an excerpt from his book 'A Brief History of the Future', published in France in 2006." I also read the post cited by SamoK. And because I have time and I'm curious and to check what's true, I read Jacques Attali's book A Brief History of the Future. A very interesting book that left a strong impression on me. But I didn't find the quote that gely and Becar cite in the whole book.
