Hello!
This summer we plan to go to the mountains in Italy.
I'm curious about the prices for overnight stays in Italian mountain huts. Is a reservation mandatory?
Probably no discount with our PZS.
For starters, I'm interested in prices in the Viševa group and in Dolomiti di Brenta.

We're going to the mountains with kids and I'm interested in how to properly tie in the children.

We have each our own harness and three via ferrata sets, a rope and two more carabiners.

I'd put myself, my husband and two children in the rope team.
I'm wondering if one adult - one child or all four on one rope team, or adult in front, ...?

Hasn't anyone stayed overnight abroad without reservation yet?

I'm interested if one could get a spot in Dolomites hut without reservation. Going end of August. Mainly thinking Dolomiti di Brenta.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Rough prices suffice to roughly calculate how much to take with us.

So most hikers in Italy take half-board?

Does anyone know what conditions for skiing are? Enough snow?

Does anyone have information on what condition the Hanzova path is in?

On Saturday the conditions in the Triglav Lakes Valley are best shown by the pictures.

I'm also interested in the conditions on Vrtača.

Has anyone gone to Grintovec after the last snowfall?
What are the conditions like?

I'm wondering if anyone has been around here recently. Curious about the snow and if there's any track yet. Especially interested in the path from Planina Blato to Zelnarice and then to Ticarice, and back past Bregarjevo shelter.

OK, a bit for fun but maybe also because I sometimes go to mountains with an obedient dog and I've met ones like VanSims.

ZZZiv terminology in point 22 of article 5 says:
22. Public place is public area as defined in law regulating public order and peace protection, except areas where there is no or no expectation of larger number of people.

Which I can interpret also that if I go to a mountain where usually there is not much traffic my dog which is not dangerous (interpretation next point) can be free.

Regardless that you took law into your hands (VanSims) they could fine you under article 15.

And in which direction is it easier to walk towards Ledine or towards Češka.
ursula10007518. 08. 2011 13:57:02
I'm interested in how long it would take:
Češka koča - Dolgi hrbet - Štruca - Skuta - Mala Rinka - Koroška Rinka - Kranjska koča.
Usually I hike for as long as it says on the signs.

We also had a family trip. We started at station B and hiked to Dom Petra Skalarja in 3:30 h. The path is visible in the forest but very overgrown, later the marks on the rocks very faded. We slept in the hut; the next day to Kanin (2:10). The hut is nicely kept; we were impressed by the caretakers' hospitality. Attaching some pics from summer Kanin.

I meant rope team such that child and adult tie to the wall, and at the same time child is also tied to adult.
It's double protection, because kids can forget to move the self-belay due to pleasure of climbing,

Problem arises for me at ledges, where self-belay is harder.

From above I got good enough answer how to belay on ledges. Still interested in rope length between protected and protector.

Thanks for answers.

Kids are 10 and 11 and very "walkers", well prepared in mountain conditioning.
We'd go via Tominškova.

My husband and I have some experience in gullies, but not with rope teams.
