If you want through Kot, it's best to park the mini bus before entering the valley:

https://www.google.com/maps/@46.437093,13.9309848,3a,60y,210.18h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s1C2S_Y-xpPYUI3VcyJQauQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

There'll be quite a walk to the end of the valley.

Further into the valley there's a forest road that's narrow, even with a personal car meeting is only possible at a few spots.

It's not possible to the Kot valley by bus. The road is quite stony, usually one climb before the end of the valley is critical to drive normally, as it's quite rutted - with low car almost impossible to reach, they've turned around before that climb. Last year that climb was in better condition though. At the end of the valley also not many parking spots, in June usually no problem yet, in main season you have to be very early to get parking.

On Wednesday I arrived without chains and 4x4 drive to Zasipska planina, to the last house, there is some space for a couple of cars, but it's a crisis if someone comes towards you

Today first to Vrtaški vrh then to Vrtaško Sleme. To Vrtaška planina path practically dry. But on way back it was practically dry. Snow on top ca. 25 cm. Path not trodden, we trod it. Fog on top, otherwise still plenty of sun. On way back snow melting fast. Larches up already nice orange but quite snow-covered.

Today a circular on High Kanin. Start from saddle Na Žlebeh (Neveja saddle). On foot to Gilberti hut and to saddle Bela peč. Then to junction for ferrata Julia (new directional sign on rock). Snow crossed only for a few meters, so no winter gear needed. Ferrata really well protected. Then a quick jump to summit. No summit book on top, if someone looks for it. Then down Slovenian side to Petra Skalarja hut and new bivouac. Bivouac looks finished from outside, but locked. At hut nothing special, some trash. But need to warn that on path to cabin cableway on hiking path there's cable which is crossed several times. Namely both wooden poles of cargo cableway collapsed (probably some time ago, could at least fix it). Looks like they brought new poles already, which ended in screes. Further visit to D station, which started operating today. Upper station itself and cableways not renovated at all, looks really abandoned, sad picture of ski resort. When you reach Italian side of ski resort completely different story. Returned via Prevala saddle and path 636 back to saddle.

Is it marked at all? I haven't gone on foot from Vršič yet.
lukapet26. 08. 2016 10:14:59
Did you go on foot from Vršič to the starting point? What is suggested?

What's the condition between the two bivouacs and onwards towards Kokrško sedlo, is the path mostly bare?

Is it possible to get a GPS track? Is the tour fully rideable, or do you have to walk some parts too?

What are the conditions like towards Bogatinsko sedlo and further to Lanževica and loop back through Lepa Komna. Is anything trodden.

Where do you start from, from the village Camporosso (Žabnice) or do you drive further into Val Bartolo valley? If starting right from the village, where is the best place to park?

Interested if path to Cima Bella and Monte Cocco is marked and if any issues with orientation. Haven't done this tour yet and haven't been in this area, can't find description online. Any recommendations for circular variant.

Today at the top. Weather excellent according to the forecast, some fog though. We started from Matkov kot. From the top, view on neighboring peaks, but not far as there was fog/clouds below. The top was quite warm, no wind. Trail to scree poorly marked, we missed it on ascent and went by torrent bed (no big trouble, some rock scrambling), from scree to top well marked. Trail otherwise unremarkable.

The path is well marked. Only the section towards the hut at Triglav Lakes (last more flat section) is more overgrown, especially this year with so much rain, but it is trodden.

Is the mulatiera from Bila peč saddle to Žrd dry? I have a plan for the weekend if the weather is OK.
