Of course mandatory filming.

Use of advice, imitating and learning from the video at your own risk (I personally please do not film and upload to YouTube). velik nasmeh

Thank God the rescuers won't run out of work.

Maybe it's 24ur bullshit again, but anyway:

http://www.24ur.com/novice/slovenija/nova-cvetka-evropske-birokracije-je-to-konec-helikopterskega-resevanja.html

Does anyone have more reliable info, or is it really just exaggeration?

Anyway, in the west it's tending more towards free market and private companies entering all possible areas. In Slovenia we already have transfers between hospitals done by contractors, but I really hope this won't move to the mountains.

Navigation starts already at home. nasmeh I use forums, accessible image materials and apps.

On the terrain exclusively and only the map, compass if needed and sketches. I try to avoid smartphones because if the battery dies, you're screwed.

I haven't met real psychos in mountains yet, in city though quite a few. velik nasmeh

I can confirm this with reverso. After some time a sharp edge formed on the bottom side that was shaving the sheath. I think it was a problem with reverso 4.

Heh nasmeh, for that, best use the trips search on hribi.net:
http://hribi.net/goreiskanje.asp

Also some book/guide e.g. 100 most beautiful hikes in Slovenian mountains (or similar) will give you some idea.

Regarding self-belaying kits there's quite a bit written already in this thread, browse a bit, there's more than enough material. nasmeh

That one-piece or two-piece you're probably asking about the harness?
A one-piece will be perfectly sufficient, meaning the lower part.

And don't forget the helmet.

Happy trails!

Awareness is in place, but if you go to the mountains you have to take into account that often a rockfall happens completely unintentionally. Often stones are dislodged by a chamois too, so shall we shoot all goats in the mountains now?

That's why it's up to us to take care; protective helmet and watch the surroundings alertly. Assess from where something might come flying and adjust movement in such terrain.

Based on what they answered you, I'd understand that a 120kg guy (OK, also a womannasmeh) can slam into the system at a certain fall factor, and the system will hold, meaning dynamic forces are at play.

Otherwise I found this:
http://www.hamradio.si/~s51kq/photo_album/Climbing_and_Mountaineering/pdf_climbing/UIAA/PictUIAA128-EN958EnergyAbsorbingSystems.pdf

According to UIAA standards you can hang static 120kg in the self-belaying kit without activating the absorber or 900kg until it breaks. In a fall, it holds dynamic forces of 6kN (80kg on 5m free fall).

Mammut explains it nicely on their site:
https://www.mammut.ch/INT/en/know-how/climbing-equipment/via-ferrata/quality
Žiga228. 08. 2016 18:55:22
Apparently it was a room with more than 6 beds, not shared beds?

And sleeping bag doesn't count as bedding.
Žiga228. 08. 2016 14:05:56
The rope is perfectly fine. I have Edelrid, and I'm quite satisfied with it.

I doubt you'll find it cheaper here.

If you plan to use it a lot in winter too, maybe worth considering an impregnated rope, but the price shows.
Žiga228. 08. 2016 11:51:20
You'll have to really slam into it for the system to start opening.

The force you lean into the kit with has much less dynamic component (=static force). The force when you slam in a fall into the self-belaying kit is impulsive, drops quickly but is also quite large (=dynamic) and that's what activates the loop tearing.
Žiga228. 08. 2016 09:36:31
@Trobec

I don't know what's wrong with the bill.

The keeper charged for sleeping on shared beds according to the price list with discount for PD members. 14 euros per person, which already includes bedding at 2.5 euros.

The price list clearly states that the bedding price is already included.

No eco tax was charged because according to the price list no eco tax for PD members.

Last week above the bivouac under Skuta this salamander crossed my path... velik nasmeh

Hope so for real.. though I think it'll sweep him off quickly nasmeh
Žiga2219. 11. 2015 10:47:16
Already said 100x.. do stupid stuff in the mountains whatever you want, but don't post them so some clown finds it and copies you.

If you're belaying, do it properly, with anchors and belay devices. If you're practicing short-roping, don't film and post it, read above why. Short-roping is basically reserved for experienced teams, the video shows this team isn't. Besides ignoring that the rope must be slightly taut all the time in this style (second doesn't advance if leader stands still) and at least one piece clipped between climbers, there's total idiocy and the leader running away above the second. Not to mention pushing into the team ahead and -best of all- "tying" to the fixed rope (10:11) velik nasmeh and dodging the other team's rope eek. If someone (not tied to my rope) touches my rope without permission, I'll break his arms. jezen
