Interesting Oleg, how terribly the term "three Cimes" suddenly hit you, given this forum is named that and used here for years. I think it's not degradation of Slovenian, rather Italian.

Last week I enjoyed the unique atmosphere of the three Cime with friends.
I must warn those who would also overnight in one of the huts that the approach and parking near the Auronzo hut costs 30 euros per day per car, with the parking ticket valid until midnight on the day of arrival, regardless of the arrival time.

On the September photos you can see tons of car tires and other trash, hope the situation has improved since then?

I think that with age the feeling of discomfort also becomes stronger. About twenty years ago I stood without hesitation on the ninth-floor balcony railing painting the ceiling, today though I look over it very carefully, holding on with both hands.

If I consider for example the bivouacs recently built in the high mountains, the proposed appearance of the new hut on Okrešelj is in the same style and I'd say, creation of the same author. One would think that the authors of these basically beautiful and modern buildings have never ventured into the mountains, don't acknowledge tradition, atmosphere, and don't care about harmony with nature, extreme maintenance conditions and the like. I'm not sure if most mountaineers would even want or dare to enter such an object.

Nine years ago I went past the Tromeja mountain hut with family, I even have a stamp PD Tromeja 1145m, they served us coffee. Four years ago everything was locked and already visibly abandoned. Pity it's decaying, I think the building was a former border post.

Sad, the object has a nice location and is easily accessible. Obviously, the state, as well as society, is too rich and does not care if property decays.

I plan to try ascent to Triglav, I have experience with cables and protections, but don't like too exposed and precipitous paths. Is it better to go up from Dolič, down to Planika or vice versa, or how is the path over Škrbina compared to path over Mali Triglav? Thanks for any advice and experience and safe steps in mountains to all.

I've already passed Abraham's age, but I like going to the hills at every opportunity, I could say they pull me more the older I get. I envy those who write that they do fifty tours a year, personally I don't have those opportunities. Regarding safety in the mountains, based on my own experiences I could add the following:
I completely agree that it's best to go on a tour for the first time with someone who has already done it, or consult with them about the difficulty and possible dangers. Hiking in company is generally nicer and safer.
The general division of paths into easy, demanding and very demanding can be very misleading, because on some "easy" path you encounter an exposed section without protections, and vice versa.
I think that on the poles with information boards about the time distance to certain stations or peaks, there's also missing a board with the inscription, or name of that place (Bogatinsko sedlo, Krnska škrbina..). Regarding the notices about time distances, many seem unrealistic to me, suitable perhaps only for very trained, already experienced hikers on that terrain with above-average physical condition. For a hiker who wants to enjoy the views and take some photos while walking, they can be a source of trouble, or even danger.
I follow contributions on this forum almost every day and would warn that most should be taken with a big grain of salt. There are too many who "jump", "assault", "casually dash" and the like on serious and respectable peaks and tours. But I don't remember when someone warned that they had serious problems, got tangled, had too little water, were poorly equipped...
I have the impression that there is a certain elitism regarding mountaineering, that not everyone can go to the mountains, that it's a privilege of chosen lucky ones, others should wander in meadows. As far as I remember, the Slovenian Mountain Trail is conceived as a kind of incentive so that everyone walking it, not just almost professional mountaineers, can enjoy and discover the beauties of Slovenia, which aren't all even of a mountainous nature. And if that's so, then I wonder if it's justified and appropriate that for the circumnavigator of this trail it's almost impossible to conquer Jalovec and maybe a couple of very demanding or poorly protected points just because they're not experienced enough, don't know how to climb, or are simply a bit scared?! Should they feel less worthy, or risk and challenge accident just to get those few stamps?

Please advise, since the protections are mostly iron, what gloves would be suitable in summer time both for hand protection and for safer grip?
andrej.bg30. 09. 2012 21:33:10
Nice to see persistent ones who manage to conquer Triglav summit even in bad weather.
But it's not nice to see that on this piece of homeland, whose only true owner was Jakob Aljaž, one can rampage, erect indefinite structures, in short own and rape something that we all should have equal rights to, as well as equal duties and respect. And if I don't want that iron in my summit picture, do I have to wait for individuals to take pity and clean up after themselves?! And what to say about black market drink sales, hoarding bottles and cans in Stanič shelter? I'd like to see such behavior lasting till evening, say, at Tromostovje?

Incredible really, how much excitement and persistence. One would think we have nothing smarter to do.
Alpine huts were created as a need for shelter from harsh conditions in the mountains, roof over head, safe rest. That's basically what they remained to this day. Of course, over the years they modernized, some more than others and everything they offer, be it a poor tap or hot shower, is welcome to the mountaineer, whether he uses it is personal decision. I think conditions in huts improve year by year, but not all huts can improve certain conditions simultaneously and no need to compare them.
Regarding service I think it's quite good, of course depending on the cook's skill, well not even my wife makes it like mom.. And we know someone prefers short but thick, others long and thin sausage, or we can bring our own from home.
Personally I go to mountains for joy of nature's beauty, in huts happy for pleasant atmosphere and good company and try to be content with good, if something doesn't fit I don't give it importance.

Please clarify whether the path to Krn from the Komna direction is shorter or time-wise better if going to Prehodci, than if going past Krn lake, and how long the path over Prehodci, Prag and Batognica to Krn takes?
andrej.bg15. 09. 2012 17:46:41
Yeah, this weekend really isn't favorable for ascending Triglav. It's also interesting that on hribi.net, the five-day weather forecast for peaks, they still hold the forecast from Wednesday to Sunday, today is already practically end of Saturday. I thought the forecast looks ahead, not back...

Hello mountain lovers. In recent years, fingerless gloves have become common on secured mountain paths. Maybe someone can explain why these so-called fingerless climbing gloves and also advise what the most suitable ones should be, leather, rubberized, branded or just regular winter ones?
