Hello!

All year long, especially on August 26th on His 100th birthday, people are talking about our Slovenian writer Boris Pahor.

In today's Primorske novice it says that mountaineering is also among Pahor's loves. He liked to go to Višarje, Lovce, Snežnik, Nanos, Kanin, Montaž, Viš and was apparently even 16 times on Triglav!

Admirable, despite his frail body!

ALL THE BEST, MR. BORIS!!!nasmehnasmehnasmeh

Hello!

First, let me explain the purpose of my question or topic; I don't want us to argue, because we Slovenians are already too quarrelsomewinking, but it seems to me that now, when nature in the mountains is at its peak, is the right time for this question...

I go to the hills also to observe our diverse and colorful florasmile.

But I often wonderconfused: have I already seen the most beautiful ones?
Which part/area/path/peak is the most ''paradise-like'' to you in terms of flora diversity and when (season/month).

My list is like this:
1. From Crna prst to Rodica (here are all colors)
2. From Zadnjica (Zadnje Trente) to Dolič, Triglav Lakes Valley (actually already around Komna, Koča pod Bogatinom), around Pogačnikov dom on Kriških podih
3. Nanos (from Vojkova koča to Abram and to sv. Hieronim) and Vremščica (from Volčja)

THANKSsmile, so we can see where it's ''worth'' going to look.

Hello,

Hello!

This also happened to me on longer hikes with nails. On descents my big toes hurt and when I got home both were blue and it took almost a year for them to return to natural color. Then mom asked the pedicurist why this happens and she said possible causes double: 1. nail not fully trimmed (now I trim almost to skin) or 2. second toe longer than big toe. And that's the cause - second toe longer so I just trim nails well sometimes even bleeding and big toe nails blacken less often.

Hello!

Seems to me I have this syndrome too...at least the signs are similar...
It appears on cold winter days, and also in late spring when my body gets too cold.
It happens that I arrive somewhere by car and have e.g. 3 fingers on hand completely pale - people think from cramped steering wheel holdingvelik nasmeh. These pale fingers are hard and I feel nothing with them even if I wiggle them somehow - only after an hour or two at room temperature they get normal color. Also in mountains, on summits, after a few minutes stop, similar happens (at 1000s!, not higher!); sometimes a few fingers white, sometimes just fingertips. Immediate walking helps.
I mentioned this 'issue' to the doctor at regular check (at work) - she said it's hereditary, there's surgery but no significant improvement.
For now it goes away after a few hours and not so badnasmehbut one gets scared of Redbull photos.
Quickest recovery!nasmeh

Hello!

On Sunday (9.6.2013) it was excellent - a bit windy and some fog and two or three small snow patches.
And quite a few hikers chasing moments without rainnasmeh

Hello!

Collecting stamps is a personal matter, but it can be quite 'useful' - with the help of 'collecting' I have broadened my horizons considerably and been to places where without it my foot would probably never have set footmežikanjenasmeh

Hello!

Just experience with stamps...
Years ago I went to Lubnik and... hut was closed so stamp unavailable.
I called Planinsko društvo Škofja Loka and explained the situation, they told me to come get the stamp in Škofja Loka...nasmeh

Hello Mr. Aljaž!

No forbidden topics - this one is especially fitting.

I too have experienced among people who move in the mountains (because they adopt various names, it is hard to name them precisely) lots of well-meant advice and help.

Hello sh!

I agree with B2 that regarding bora best variant is from direction Gornjih Ležeč and descent to Volče or žp Košana.

But if you choose ascent in other season e.g. early summer when morning dew... then direction Volče or žp Košana is more suitable - there no high grass and consequently wet pants.

(Few years ago we went with 7-year-old from žp Košana to Vremščica, descended to sheep farm before Senožeče (road Divača-Senožeče) and from there hitchhike home. But now not traveling like that... just as example that 7-year-olds can manage such path (quite asphalt).)

Safe ascent with nice weather and wonderful views to sea and mountainsnasmeh,
M

Hello!

ksena@ - yes it is and it's good that we don't go to the mountains just to go walking and see nothing. Nice if we learn something more... but it's not my habit to 'ramble so much'mežikanje

hribovc88@ - There are more Holy Trinities. Also Čepljani in Košanska valley have theirs - 689m on which the church of Holy Trinity also stands and there you werenasmeh Krpan's Holy Trinity is this one described above that you described rightzmeden and is located in Pivka basin and is a bit higher.
(Sorry, I know formal you isn't your favorite but that's how I was raisedmežikanje)

Hello!

ksena@ - the claim about the lake connection is not far from the truth; this watershed is all connected, if not above ground then underground - even with Planinsko poljemežikanje

laščan@ - the author of the special markings (on photos 4 and 5) is surely the priest, Mr. Vid Premrl. Besides the mentioned artworks (angels on Nanos and things on the church of sv. Urbana on Vremščica) also things on the church of sv. Brica (on Nanos) and probably elsewhere.

Regarding Martin Krpan... artistic freedomzmeden
- Levstik did live for some time in Pivka basin - at Kalc castle (near Zagorje) as home tutor for Miroslav Vilhar, but he came there already after the publication of Martin Krpan.
But still viharnik@ and Hribovc88@ are right about Pivka St. Trinity as Krpan'snasmeh
To list some facts in favor of the claim that Martin Krpan was a Pivčan (resident of Pivka basin):
- he meets the emperor in harsh winter on the emperor's path Vienna-TS so-called Triest road and Martin says: "home I'm from the Top of St. Trinity, two hours walk from here" - which is near St. Trinity and for a guy who's on the road every day and knows all shortcuts, probably possible to reach in 2 hours,
- when Martin angrily parts from the emperor he says; "even at your place I haven't and won't get such service as in Razdrtem at Klinčar" - Razdrtem is also on Krpan's path from larger towns towards St. Trinity,
- Pivčani were known carriers and hauled everywhere; Martin lists some larger towns, that he was already in Rijeka, Koper, Vrhnika and Ljubljana - one of the old smuggling paths leads from Pivka to Loška dolina right under St. Trinity,
- the village Vasišče on St. Trinity also existed - experts say it's documented in urbaries,
- from St. Trinity Bile and Poček are visible (now part of military training area, but the beauty of the buildings can still be felt), which were branches of Lipica stud farm, their lands reached right to St. Trinity, nearby there were two more branches of Lipica stud farm - Prestranek and Škule...

I myself know only 1 claim that speaks in favor of the Bločanizadrega; when Levstik describes Martin's offense: "Like lightning behind Mokrcem,"- Mokerc is indeed closer to Bloke, but also close to Velike Lašče from where Levstik was from home and knew exactly how it lightens behind Mokrcem.

So...nasmehnot exactly the most mountaineering writing, but it was a challenge, not to be silent...zavijanje z očmi

Hello, Ksena!

Praise for the ascent - we, in the basin, got a bit scared of the wind so we admired St. Trinity more from afar (from shelter)mežikanje

Just 1 correction: on photo 8 is the largest Pivka lake - Palško jezero (near Palčje village). (Petelinjsko Lake is also nicely visible from St. Trinity and is a bit more towards Postojna - north, it's on photo 16.)

Nice photos, that day visibility wasn't exactly the bestnasmeh

Hello, Hribovc88!

This path was quite LONGeekcongrats on perseverancenasmehnasmehnasmeh

By the church of St. Urban (I think since May) there's also a shelter. When bora rages on Vremščica, or one needs to change clothes. Inside there's a logbook.

Take care, M

Hello, Hribovc88 or Blaž!

Our little hills are really nice toonasmeh,
congratulations on the ascentnasmehnasmehnasmeh and nice photos.

For me the nicest ascent to Slavnik is from Prešnica.

Regarding solo ascent to Snežnik, you need to take a longer summer day, now the day is too short for such a long path and too cold and unstable weather, and even then there will be more people on the paths.

Years ago, on a night hike to Slavnik, I met a man around 70 years or more, who every summer spends 1 week on the path from Snežnik towards Javorniki. Sleeps in a sleeping bag outdoors or in huts - Sviščaki, on Mašun. And he said he likes it. Of course he approximately knows the terrain - dangers of chasms and ignores close encounters with beastseek

Good luck, M
