Top tour. Quite long, so need to "step well" for it. No water in between, right? How's the passage over the landslide from Dolška škrbina a bit below Grintovec? Congratulations.

As long as prices from two years ago haven't been lowered, the last parking before entering Voje valley (Stara Fužina) was 3 eur/hour. Now calculate based on the number of hours how much the parking will be. Hourly high!! I addressed my disagreement to: obcina@bohinj.si, but as expected, they didn't even reply.

My wife and I went to Krsterniški Stog then, on 18 November 2023. We used 9 hours and paid 27 eur. With Bohinj's parking tourism, they won't see me there anymore. Mountains and nature don't lose beauty and attractiveness with this, but with such behavior they'll lose us hikers. Only foreign summer tourists will remain. Luckily we deterred at least one Pole before entering the parking.

Pokljuka has much cheaper parking (7 eur/day), though still Bohinj municipality.

Matjaž from Ljubljana.

Yesterday, 20.6., with my wife we climbed Grintovec. To make the tour top-notch, we started from in front of the Dom in Kamniška Bistrica, where parking is still free for now. To the lower station via hiking path halfway, then on gravel. Ascent to Kokrsko sedlo quite steep. Before the saddle we saw a group of ibex under the wall of Kalska gora. Tea and shot in the hut chatting with very friendly keepers. All the time cloudy, which was very welcome for hiking. Roof of Grintovec between ca. 2100-2500 m in thick fog. At the summit sun but very little views. Descent back same path. Food in hut really excellent. On descent to the valley we ran into same group of ibex again, this time saw them really close by the hiking path. They arrived a few minutes earlier, sat down and watched us. When walking close they immediately protected the young one, which is right, but all without issues. On the whole trail see consequences of last year's storm, huge ditches where water rushed carrying stones and rocks to valley. Even on roof of Grintovec visible traces of heavy prolonged rain. Buried part of lower cable car station too. For this reason path from Suhadolnik to Kokrsko sedlo closed. Path destroyed and per hutkeeper no trace where to go. Also danger where path over Taško already demanding. In valley still foot soak in Kamniška Bistrica and refresh with drink. Tour with good 2000 height gain nice, long and tiring too.

They try to impose many things on us. Especially traders and lately especially municipalities with parking fees for entering nature, which is nobody's property, not even municipal officials', but everyone's right. Under the pretext of environmental protection and "all for your safety" they have so far accepted all decisions that do not serve the people but introduce control. All imposed parking fees are just a commercial offer that you can accept or not. True, by refusing payment we extend the path to the starting point or just don't go where profit is at the expense of hikers who just want to enjoy nature. Perhaps we lack unity to succeed, because if there was no money in the cash registers the other side would be forced to lower or withdraw the usurious prices. In Bohinj there is such an example of parking for entering Voje valley. Two years ago my wife and I after returning from Krsteniški Stog paid at the end of Stara Fužina 27 euros for 9 hours parking. Bohinj thus gets main tourism profit from parking fees. Probably we were there for the last time. Sad that in the end we are all people of the same country, only that these same citizens on one side do everything for that monthly income because "they're just doing their job" and are like soulless shells....There are always bright spots, there are still locations where mountaineers are still welcome. Thanks for valuable info. Wonderful tour! You can see there's little snow now, but the appearance from afar can be deceptive. As you say, it's icy in the scree before the ridge. Higher up the path goes to the "sunny" side, where the snow soon melts...

I took some pictures, so I'll add them to the previous description in these holiday days. Your tour over all the listed peaks, even though on the shortest path, is magnificent. I thought there was more elevation, because I alone with the ascent from Kanin village to High Kanin and to the gondola did about 2200 meters. I'll check Strava. It always "adds" a little because it hunts for signal and accumulates a bit more than the actual state.
bohincm23. 12. 2024 23:29:47
Congratulations, Lijaneja. The tour is wonderful but "long-lasting". In August 2023 I did a slightly less strenuous one. From Kanin village in Bovec to Kanin summit (without ascents to any additional peak) and the same descent as Lijaneja. Departure at 6:30. Already at the beginning, before Plužna village, I chose the wrong path and walked on macadam towards station B. A bit earlier I took it off-trail through the forest. I hit the first mark when I stepped onto the macadam road leading to Gozdec. From there on it went without problems. Midway I came across a small spring at about 1700m. Short break at the remains of the old Skalar hut. Exceptional views. Already to the turnoff for Laška Planja it drags on, you can't skip 2000m...
The Zadnji dol valley is really long. Finally I overcame 2200 m and slowly approached his highness, High Kanin. Slightly worse markings and a bit of searching for the entrance to the more demanding part. I met no one. In contrast, towards the gondola there was a real procession, as well as to the window in Prestreljenik. I reached the summit after 5 and a half hours of walking. Mists, as usual here, began to veil the views. Snack and then in a fairly quick pace to the gondola. I had half an hour left to enjoy the exceptional high-mountain environment with a beer. Since the gondola is not operating now, this environment will be even more deserted, including the Peter Skalar hut. Ascent and descent in the same day is quite a strong challenge, except for mountain runners and hikers with a lot of stamina....

Friends of the mountains. I agree with almost all. I'm not against paid parking as long as it's within reasonable limits, but when it crosses all boundaries and turns into pure fleecing or profit-seeking, I'm firmly against it. I feel that in tourist municipalities like Bohinj they want to compensate for lost revenue that municipal officials along with other tourism experts aren't able to earn. Hikers represent a large share of revenue through accommodations, food, inn visits... etc., but you'll undoubtedly slowly and steadily drive us away in Bohinj municipality out of greed. Our case with my wife. Last October we decided to climb from Voj to Krsteniški Stog. At 5:30 we parked at the unguarded sandy parking lot at the end of Stara Fužina village. Upon return from 9-hour tour, payment amount: 9 hrs x 3 eur/hr = 27 eur!!! As many hours as that, times 3 eur, instead of a reasonable daily rate. Do you in Bohinj municipality think this is fair to hikers? Judge if we'll return....
bohincm18. 11. 2023 19:18:51
We know what the title is for. But let me warn all hikers heading to the mountains on foot from old Fužina through the Voje valleys.
Today, 18.11.2023 we parked at parking lot P8, right before the barrier for Planina Blato.

Upon our return from Krsteniški Stog after a wonderful sunny and scenic day, we were charged 27 eur for 9 hours of parking!!!
I know we could have turned around in the morning, but since we came from far away at 6 am when it was still dark we didn't turn around and look for parking further. Our mistake. We mistakenly expected a reasonable daily fee for parking, but unfortunately it wasn't so. Therefore I warn everyone again good-naturedly before taking the ticket about the consequences of USURIOUS amounts at this Bohinj municipality parking lot.
If they want to reduce mountain visits by hikers, they will undoubtedly achieve the goal, as this has gone beyond all limits of greed.
That day I saw quite a few stunned faces and responses that they certainly won't see them here or anywhere else in Bohinj municipality anymore, just like me. There isn't only Bohinj municipality...
But it's also true that you have the right to agree with this.

Best regards, matjaž

From Durc on the whole descent no snow anywhere. No winter gear needed. Hiked two days ago.

Hello
No. I didn't think of that. I corrected it to Raduha.
Thanks for the heads up.
bohincm25. 05. 2022 18:23:13
On May 24, 2022, I decided to ascend Velika Raduha from a lesser-known starting point, from Rogovilc near the turn-off to Robanov kot, i.e. straight from the valley. Presumably at least 1400 m elevation gain. The path runs along a narrow trail that occasionally no longer resembles a trail. I pass the nicely maintained Račnik farm (820 m). Continuation first along a wide forest path that runs for a long time at approx. 1000 m altitude, under the southern cliffs named Gozdek. The path is distinctly narrow here, in places requires caution due to exposure. At one spot it's rightfully secured with steel cables. It's very attractive and constantly changes direction. When I reach the edge of Sleme, sun rays break through sparser spruces. Continuation is along a more comfortable but quite steep path to the wide transverse forest path at approx. 1440 m. To Planina Arta (1585 m) another approx. 15 minutes. From Planina Arta I chose the approach to the summit from the northeast side. Along the trail there were loads of junipers, lots of mountain flowers and surprisingly blueberries too. Views towards KSA peaks and Olševa were quite good, though mists revealed and hid views. The ascent is completely snow-free.
From the summit I descended via changed descent from Durc to Planina Grohat, where they're currently renovating the hut. Continuation along marked path to valley past Tolstovršnik farm and approx. 1.5 km asphalt back to Rogovilc. Sign says two hours from Grohat, but need good pace for that. This part technically not demanding, but all other qualities needing caution. Crossing steep slopes, occasional poor trail visibility, crossing active scree and fallen trees. On whole tour met only four hikers at summit. Path circular, fitness quite demanding, offers nice views and about 8 hours walking. Or instead from Arta, go to Koča na Loki then summit.

Anyway, in all sports activities everyone should know their own psychophysical abilities. Of course, one shouldn't go beyond them. Risks always exist, we can only reduce them. There's an interesting article on the web link that highlights the positive side of movement. With it we also strengthen mental health, which is part of the whole story

https://www.delo.si/novice/slovenija/ostani-doma-a-pojdi-tudi-ven-in-sportaj-292356.html

By the way. Has anyone been to Grintovec recently? Lately conditions have been demanding but still. Many of you attach nice photos from the ascent...
bohincm30. 03. 2020 16:32:47
The forum should be dedicated to mountaineering topics, exchange of information, with which we help each other the most. If we write criticism, let's consider that we don't attack the person anyway. We're not all equally skilled, including me, and psychophysically capable, so it doesn't make sense to compare.
Regarding the virus or let's say a more dangerous form of virosis, it's not caused only by the most frequently named virus lately but by a group of them, symptoms are very similar so it's not necessary that the worst happens because of it. The body's response strongly depends on the immune system, which we ourselves influence the most with our diet. There's no talk anywhere about healthy eating (fruit and vegetables, where there are the most minerals and vitamins). Microorganisms work very well in acidic (anaerobic) environments of the body. We'll do a lot if we go for a walk, some hike. With that, the probability of getting infected in the solitude of nature or passing the infection to others is much smaller.

Today's ascent offered very pleasant weather conditions with exceptional views all the way from Kvarner, Učka, Nanos, Julian to Kamnik-Savinja Alps and further east. Path very trodden, but snow for this time very little. Windy only from the valley just before the last ascent to Draga Karolina hut. I descended via Mali Snežnik.
