and regarding the warning about teasing dogs, I have to agree...I always ask people to leave the dog alone, otherwise (if they tease it, try to pet) it will want to play with them.....helps in 5 %.....then they leave with dirty pants....

maybe runners should stay in the valley because you scare dogs.....that's more of a joke...I just wanted to say that no one has the right to limit another's freedom....runners/hikers not to dog owners, and vice versa...you just need to ensure correct behavior from all involved....

I just emphasize that locals usually always suffer from such interventions in nature, but rarely do they really organize into various initiatives etc. Otherwise....."and the caravan moves on".


It's also the case that I can hardly believe such interventions were done without the knowledge (or even consent) of the owners on VP. You can get upset here, locals who otherwise "pester hikers to death", are nicely silent.

As long as you whine here and write heart-wrenching stories, probably nothing will change.

Every organization of (any) competition inevitably means intervention in nature. Often also construction of facilities that will never be fully utilized later. But out of sight, out of mind, right?

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you are actually ready to stand up, demand explanation, and halt the works.

What do you think "current conditions" on VP and everywhere else were 20 years ago. And what do you think they'll be in 20 years. SOME TRASH will always be there, because you simply can't raise awareness of all people (of course I allow the possibility that in 20 years every m2 will be under cameras, but that's not the point).

IF you're getting upset, do it where you'll reach the target audience.

Maybe this isn't the right place for complaining. Those who leave trash behind are probably just occasional mountain guests, and don't even know about the existence of this or similar forums. It's hard to believe that anyone from here (with posts) participating would intentionally leave remnants behind.
