Towards Begunjščica there are quite a few rocks and a high chance you'll ruin your skis, but skiing would still be possible.

Otherwise a new shipment of snow is coming and if it settles well, it'll be wonderful.

Safe journey and even better skiing,

Following the above claims I just had to go on a "trip" to the Hut on Kriška gora to convince myself with my own eyes how horrible it is eek
But lo and behold,... the hut is really closed Monday mornings. Then I dove into a talk with the caretaker who whined to me that shops in the valley are closed at the time he could do procurement, so nothing left but go down to valley Sunday evening, spend night with family, after breakfast shopping and quick back to hut,... and if I think well it's quite logical.mežikanje
But it didn't give me peace,... "yeah but what if I need shelter???, hut closed zmedenzmedenzmeden..."
Nonsense, in the hut there's space meant just for that.

Otherwise I'd give all alpine huts to private hands, not a bunch of "important members" of associations behind them. Pardon,.. that's topic for another time.

Nice mountaineering greeting and safe on the path.cool

Tejkolino,

I was at the summit two days ago alone with two ice axes, which proved to be the right decision. Not much snow, on the initial part towards Mali Triglav it's frozen, while on sunny side it was completely rotten. Except the first traverse and two more, the path is relatively safely passable (of course with proper gear!), cables are many places out, on exposed spots I recommend extra caution and if possible climbing in a rope team. On mentioned spots extra care on descent.
Another emphasis for the first steep slope on ascent to Mali Triglav, there's a deep track made, but snow is quite loose and on descent offers poorer grip!

One of critical passages - traverse is well visible from picture 9 (post Tomaž11 / 26.12).

PS: duty weather guys at Kredarica say snow on 3 and 4.1., so use the great days.

Safe journey and all best in 2017. nasmehnasmehnasmeh

@bumslpepe, first of all, thanks to you for the "track" you pulled to Prgarca.

Anyway, I pulled it myself today with skis to Kredarica and was quite surprised that there were no ski tracks yet. Proudly I state that I opened the season!, of course for that reason I'm even more tired, since it was quite crusty.

Continuing the route description where bumslpepe ended... From Prgarca onwards one needs to be very careful, snow isn't too much, smaller patches have slid, but since frozen snow alternates with powder, something else might release on the slope, but I think it's not very dangerous. Exactly that snow continues all the way to the top. One step goes on top, the next one sinks properly. Better only on the last steep slope to the top.
The guys at Kredarica are of course always active, diligently do their work and ensure fresh tea is available, today they even cooked ričet. Given the wonderful sunny and even warm day, a slightly longer stop was obligatory.
Descent as usual from Kredarica is real rock'n'roll, crust breaks through, no rideable powder except where you wouldn't want it. Still the upper part is quite enjoyable. Middle and lower parts are real torment, during skiing I just hoped no one was watching me, as it looked like I was seeing skis for the first time. It all ended with about 10 more or less funny falls and of course burning legs.
Skiing ended right before the lower forest, otherwise it would have gone further, but pity for the skis, and knees were already burning so much it was easier to walk a bit.

Not to forget, with the car I came even to the ramp. Almost no snow.

Definitely a wonderful day!
Good luck everyone.

Zelenica and Triangel already shining in full winter light, the ski slope was almost entirely skiable today. Only the first slope is a bit scattered with rocks and better to walk a few meters.
Already in the morning despite strong wind there were quite a few ski tourers. Most terrain can be skied decently, on some parts of course frozen crust combined with powder offers its own motocross nasmeh
Peaks lit by morning sun anyway offer such a unique view that it's a shame to miss any such moment.
Yuhu, winter is here. Good luck.

PS: snowfields towards Begunjščica not sufficiently snow-covered yet!

I have goosebumps standing up! Just watching this is a pleasure.
MaxSi19. 11. 2013 15:25:48
Holy cow, it looks pretty adrenaline-fueled. BRAVO!

@ejti
Yes, I'm the one with bad brakes nasmeh
See you some weekend for tea. Good luck all.

Kokta,... does someone really go up there (pic 13). Thanks for the pic nasmeh

Oops, meant correctly... but this really isn't Rjavina. That would be ultra-zoooomeek
Sorry, it's Planjava.
Juš, thanks for crampon opinion.

Sunday, 17.11.2013.
It was completely dark in the valley, so the only right choice for a bit of sun was to head to 2000m. The sun showed up at the exit from the bushes, a few hundred meters below Kamniško sedlo.
First, praise to the "volunteers" who keep the hut at Kamniško sedlo open on weekends, in previous years it closed on 15.10. regardless of conditions. Kamniško sedlo is always an ideal combo of hills with mountain vibe, so this is more than welcome.
Path to the saddle is almost fully dry, just some small snow patches right below the top.
Things change towards Brana right away, the approach is fully winter despite little snow. Short sleeves out immediately, cold wind blows on the shady side. Slope traverse needs focused steps, of course with crampons and ice axe, and the view of the slide to Logarska makes pulse rise anyway.
After traverse, ascent half on rocks half on snow, so I was most worried about wrecking crampons. But all went fine.
Summit almost fully dry and offered great views of fog sea in the valley that day.
Good luck all.

Great, as long as you enjoyed it! The path through Žrelo is an ideal training tour for more demanding ascents.
Greetings to all.
MaxSi8. 07. 2013 13:21:48
I sign under the answer of member lukapet. Did the same route a day before, so I can only confirm.
Good luck on the way.
MaxSi5. 07. 2013 08:49:36
The path is steep but perfectly secured, of course at exposed places. If the path to Ledine didn't cause you problems, in my opinion Žrelo won't either.
