Does anyone know the condition of the path to Slemenova Špica these days? - Road drivability, how much snow on the path from Vršič to Slemeno, is it icy.....? Thanks

If anyone else is interested...
On Saturday, 15.6. my colleague and I went up. Only the last part of the path is snowy, i.e. from the lower waterfall left, towards the path to the pools. So here you can, like, say, on the approach to Matkovega škafa, with the help of poles (snow is soft), nicely cross the snowfield. I went without poles, because it's awkward to walk with poles and cradle a damn camera at the same time.
Pools are clear, likewise the path to their upper part and then quite further up.
Some pics...

Irina... yeah, nice hut at first glance. Well, depends also how the photographer sees it and captures it in his lens. Definitely on my photos it could be a fairy tale house....

Does anyone know if the path to Frischauf Hut at Okrešelj is dry?

I was also at Škaf on Saturday. Since right from the path start there are no photos, I'm attaching my first two Saturday pics. So soon when turning from main road into Matkov valley, surprised by the sight on pics.

Thanks for the detailed information nasmeh

Yeah, nobody will turn anyone away, I'd say. At least I wouldn't. And the bivouac I think they'll set up pretty quickly. Anyway they've already assembled it in the valley, just need to transport it up and mount it on site. This would be interesting to film or at least photo. I have to ask my colleague when they plan to haul the main part up and report if anyone's interested.

Here's some new info. So when they dismantle the old bivouac, they expect to assemble the new one in about 4 to 5 days. So within 14 days or so, the bivouac should be open again.

Also my congrats, gregcs1. I climbed the described route years ago daytime and I admit, not even in my craziest dreams would I think of going into Slovensko at night. My exit went over Frelih ledge anyway....

But I go almost every year at night to Triglav past Vodnik hut and Planika then over Mali Triglav. Something always drives me up there at night again. Hard to say what....and WHY... I say a tour can be beautiful at night too, when above you only stars and moon....and no usual crowds on these paths. But my aim is waiting for sunrise on top. Goal is anyway that whole "long" way up....
Night has its power....and charms. Definitely something is missing if I skip this tour some year.
Attaching link to pics from one of my trips up there, to add some atmosphere.... Description by pics.

One info about the bivouac at Prehodavci, if anyone plans to go up there these days and sleep over.
Our guys will according to latest info start dismantling the old bivouac tomorrow and put up a new one in the same place, somewhat more spacious - before 16, now 24 bunks. Gaberiti probably stay the same.
So for the coming time I recommend not planning to sleep in the bivouac.

Hm....if I'm looking right, or guessing, Repov kot or the gully below in the snow is that somehow in the middle of the pic.....it tells me something, thanks....but the condition in the pools (that's why I'd take my friend there to see them) is not visible....
bojkoker11. 06. 2013 09:57:45
I gotta go see this sometime. Really, nice pics, nice colors.
bojkoker11. 06. 2013 09:36:56
Can someone tell me how the path to Repov kot is? Dry?
Almost at the end, from the lower waterfall under the pools all the way to and beyond the path I know there's huge avalanche snow every year and you have to cross that snowfield. I believe there's still snow there.
What about further up, along and in the pools themselves? Is there water and thus something nice to see or is everything still covered in snow?

The upper photos... from which date are they? If I guess right, the path to Martuljek spring is already dry?
