Today I observed a large flock flying quite high in a stretched line in ENE direction. Is it possible that cranes are already returning?

Yes, cranes are already returning. In these days there was also a good flyover of geese. If they are too high and not well visible, fortunately they distinguish very nicely by calling.

Greylag geese have been permanent here for some years; after a drop in numbers last season to about 10-12, lately again up to 50 flying around here. They are very loud and since they fly very low can't be mistaken.
Definitely over 100 cranes, saw them on Wednesday at 11:20 over Renče.

I saw these critters for the first time, along Ljubljanica, Prule (first time there - nice!). Probably nutrias too (they told me otherwise - even non-experts - that they are muskrats).

Yes, cute, shy. Along Ljubljanica there are many too. Only today I noticed they really have orange incisors, quite cute to see live.

Data for ornithologist. Today at 17:10 flock of around 200 cranes flew over Ptuj, in eastern direction, i.e. towards Croatia.
Great view, flying quite low.

Today at 13:00 over Brezovica near Ljubljana two flocks of cranes. Flying in direction SW to NE. First heard only one flock which circled a bit over Brezovica and waited for the other flock which was a minute late. When flocks joined, some strange whirling started lasting only a minute then continued to NE.
Ornithologist, you'll count them yourself.

Also today cranes flying over Ljubljana Marsh - Vnanje Gorice at 12.30. Direction similar to yesterday's, i.e. from SW to NE.

At 13.45 they were flying over Velika Lašna near Kamnik. Direction as goldi wrote.

Today around 13.30 flock on the already described route, observed over Dobrovo near Ljubljana.

Today observed as many as three flocks; first at 12h smaller flock (around 50 individuals), then at 12.30 larger flock of over 100 birds circling for quite some time approximately over lakenessom velik nasmeh

-it looked like they didn't know where to go. Well after a few minutes of circling they finally took direction NE. At approximately 17h another larger flock-over 100 flew in W formation towards NE....oh and location-over Renče.
