Sometimes it was warned that foxes that approach people or their homes so closely - are rabid. But I've seen many foxes close to humans in recent years. For example, one is a regular visitor to Ljubljana Castle, not afraid of people.
Shrinking living space or growing population? Probably a combination of both.

The fox has wet fur as it can't be otherwise in these rainy days, then it looks all dry. Also changing fur, on back still winter gray-brown fur, head already reddish-brown also on legs and chest will soon change color. No animal is pretty when it "molts", then people immediately think it's sick. By end of May it'll be a nice fox already. Fox comes to houses of course, likes chickens, also hops some kitten if finds it. Something smells to it so comes to check, even in container something can be found. Not picky, eats slugs, frogs too...
Vocalizes with bark, such a more squeaky bark, whines a bit at end of bark.
Comes to our yard too, at night and when sometimes early morning I step out I smell it, well its marking. Such strong sour smell. Or in bushes too, can smell it if step on its territory.

Sorry, pikica, but this fox is bony and no soaked fur helps.
At my place foxes are much more serious beasts in any weather.

I believe you. Don't know why, but when I spotted the fur, I thought of a wild boar. Probably missed it completely.

I know @SamoK, fox isn't well regarded by people. That's mainly because for years it was the main carrier of serious disease, rabies. Foxes can be rabid too. In Slovenia it's been years that rabies is gone. Actually two decades, twice a year spring and autumn they vaccinate foxes against rabies with baits.
Understandably, don't touch wild animals, don't get too close or bring them home. Nothing wrong if occasionally a little fox comes to the home yard wink

Carniolan bee (Carniolan gray, Kranjica), scientific name - Apis mellifera carnica
The Carniolan bee is a calm breed, intended for obtaining honey and other bee products in densely populated areas. It is the second most widespread bee species in the world, in Slovenia it is protected as an autochthonous breed.
