Today I saved a fledgling, probably a sparrow, from the cat. She was already preparing to catch it.

Hmm, I wonder what lubadar would add to this...

yeah, what else to say but that this is an inappropriate intervention in nature

Then, when it trusted me so much that it stayed on my hand and started washing itself. I released it into nature. Scolded the cat though, if it would help anything.

Photographed at the beginning of July in the Danube Delta... It's really a puzzle for me. Definitely an eagle species? Given the location I'd guess it could be the osprey, but they have a whiter head? And no eagle species I've found on the web and in my guidebooks has a completely yellow beak, but at least the tip dark? If anyone knows what this is, I'd be glad... :-)

hi, this is an adult white-tailed eagle (European version of those American eagles with white head). It also lives in Slovenia (ca.10 pairs) regards

Of course it's the osprey, a rare bird that only migrates through our areas. Where exactly did you observe it? Zajavor in the Muzec ridge? Do you perhaps know where it flew? regards

It was circling above the ridge somewhere in the middle between Zajavor and Nizki vrh (above Resia). It flew off towards south or southwest. Roughly like that. Otherwise thanks for the very quick reply

On Friday we observed a buzzard on Jerebica gliding from the direction of Črnelske špice towards Mangart. It didn't flap its wings once, just glided. Otherwise a large bird, but not extremely (definitely much smaller than a hawk), dark, but clearly visible that it had a white transverse stripe on wings and tail. Tail shorter, somewhat fan-shaped, feathers at the end of wings not spread out (didn't look like fingers). Someone at the top claimed it was an eagle. Unfortunately no photo I've been browsing data for a few days now; can anyone tell if it's really possible we saw an eagle?

Hm, I've already seen that recording...it's very similar, only this one has a somewhat wedge-shaped tail, theirs was straight cut, like some winglet for little dolls with a white ribbon.

Ornitolog, thanks for the pics - it was exactly like on the second photo! Extremely beautiful sight.

Very instructive. For me they would all be hawks.
