@VanSims: I warmly recommend you not to venture into terrain you don't know. You wrote: "Where do you see crisscrossed ski slopes? I don't know? There's only one and one gondola. Also the rest (hotels, huts, roads,...)" Let me list the ski slopes on Pohorje in order starting with the one you know: -Mariborsko Pohorje -Areh -Rogla -Ribniško Pogorje -Pungart -Kope As for the destroyed nature by mountain bikers, motocross riders, quad bikes and snowmobiles Korl's claims are accurate. Accurate are also the mentions of roads, forest roads and railways. I advise you to walk through Pohorje far and wide to see all that. As for the friendliness of Pohorje people, hats off and all respect. Also prices in huts are significantly lower than in Gorenjska, both in high mountains and mid-mountains. When the snow melts we can go to Pohorje together. My opinion about bohinjci I'll keep to myself. I'm also attaching a photo on the theme of destroying a mountain path on Pohorje.

@julius: I think we mostly agree, OK you are right about ski slopes. Really, at least you should have remembered Rogla too. As for motorbikes, quads: unfortunately you see such things elsewhere too. And pohorci are least to blame. Also state and authorities only to some extent. Also lacking awareness in people who mostly don't care about such things (as if it's not my problem) or that they would strictly report such wildlings thereby passively tolerating them. I accept the invitation for a trip to pohorje, we can arrange something after no more snow.

My opinion is that in the current situation Slovenia has enough or too many ski resorts. Example. Our roads after this winter from plowing and salt are totally ruined, the state has no money for renovation. Who will drive from abroad on such roads to Slovenian ski resorts. Another example. Industry is collapsing, just yesterday Maribor foundry on TV and another company from Savinja valley, I don't remember exactly. Hundreds, thousands of new unemployed. Why wouldn't say some capable entrepreneur, or group of investors rather start a factory for 1000 workers, or buy some failed company and restructure it and I could list more. If in this country we don't start investing where it's really needed, soon only a few chosen ones will be able to ski on ski resorts. Obviously some don't realize the current conditions at all, or the crisis hasn't hit them. I would call this living in the clouds. Someone gave example of thermal tourism, how well it's going, foreigners coming en masse... Regarding this I must also say that two thermal centers known to me (which had mainly foreign guests) are drowning in debts, one is allegedly already closing, one will soon start closing too. So I would say, don't rely on foreign guests, because it won't be enough. I'm not envious, but if this project succeeds, returns investment and lasts 10 years, let those investors get some award for lifetime achievements.

@NejcR: For such cases I don't know, but I've already myself reported several times some dog owner whose dog periodically harassed me in front of his house when I walked or biked past (e.g. to work, on regular errands,...) And look at that! Police intervened! After a month or two, maybe after some additional email that dog no longer harassed me. Police informed me in many cases also by return email about their intervention and measures. Another option is of course self-protection measures bypassing police. If community stands together and protects each other then several repetitions of such measure on various few perpetrators is enough that the word spreads also through the rest of violators population that there they can't afford such anymore.

NejcR and VanSims, doesn't it seem to you that with your problems around "cucks" you've strayed to the new Bohinj ski resort.

Yes, it's true that industry at home is collapsing and that investment is needed there too. But when opening new factories and companies the same story repeats as here. Full of opposition (most often precisely for nature conservation reasons and name and surname of the investor) and throwing sticks under feet and therefore the investor sooner or later withdraws and the project fails. I'm afraid, or rather almost sure, that this will happen too. I don't know why tourism isn't considered an important economic sector here. After all, it brings a lot of jobs and creates a significant share of GDP. Especially here in the Bohinj area I think it's more sensible to invest in such projects than some industry. Besides Bohinj (Vogel, Kobla, Bohinj 2864, Soriška pl.), a similar case is also Kanin, where it would make sense to invest as soon as possible in its renovation and modernization. But I'm afraid they'll close it sooner or later and only a nice memory of old times will remain.

@korl: every Slovene should care about Bohinj. Even if from Prekmurje. To Bohinj I go regularly in summer to swim, it's better than the sea, and closer too. We shouldn't divide too much by regional affiliation, we are all Slovenes, Slovenia is small and everything is within reach. For that we should be grateful. PS: An individual can't do much in such cases, unless in a high position.

I'm against the new ski resort, they should rather bring the existing ones to a higher level, not let everything stand still. Besides, I feel sorry for the nature.

I suggest you start a petition, all who are ardent opponents of this new project, because just spilling bile on the forum won't have much effect, agree?

Even better, come to us in HR for free training on how to collect signatures for a referendum. I suggest Dubrovnik as the starting destination ... there they know very well how to screw potential investors, first they sell them land for fat money then say, we were joking, now we'll organize a referendum on whether that project for which you bought the land can go ahead or not ... maybe do something like that in Bohinj too?

jeriličar, that's how it functions in Slovenia already for 20 years. Obviously we're more similar than we think. Also masters at referendums.

Has anyone checked the potential investors, the status of accounts of their past companies, liquidity, if they were successful in past projects, if they messed up anything, source of their wealth, possible criminal charges, final convictions etc.? Or do we just blindly trust everyone? Isn't it only important if the project will be or not? It's also important who will execute it, if in case of failure they will leave unpaid loans behind, who will pay that in that case, if they actually have that much money etc.

Great support for the new ski resort at the public tribune, which was on Wednesday, April 3. That's what it says on the front page of Gorenjski glas on 5. IV. 2013. Support was expressed by Bohinj residents.

Indeed, that's what it says in today's Gorenjski glas, but it was the same with the expansion of Triglav National Park, in a year then crying that they were "tricked".

I have nothing against the ski resort or the mentioned family. Super, if MOST Bohinj residents want it, of course with a company capable of carrying it out without creating new debts. They'll pour clean wine for themselves in a few years. P.S.: I listened to the radio this morning and then the current mayor appears, former director in the water park, who rounds up some people (just like against demolishing black constructions in TNP) and that's it. Truly independent reference.

400 people showed up at the public hearing, of course not the current mayor, not the investor, but the project leader. As I wrote a few days ago: I respect the Bohinj people! Of course, they are also responsible for the decisions and not external critics who are so diligently adding comments.
