This is pretty sad to read, that the countryside isn't safe practically anywhere anymore, not even in the mountains!

Last year I often biked either to Jermanca or to the cable car at Kokrško sedlo. Several times I noticed a car like Lj mentions, "tired" one, with some not exactly hikers but "čurimuriji", driving on the road from Kamniška Bistrica to those spots. Now thinking about it in this thread, I'm sure they weren't driving around there for nothing. Cars parked in remote places are very vulnerable, even if there's nothing useful for thieves in them, you just have repair costs, and they're not even insured because it's not an official parking lot up there; except at the hut in Kamniška Bistrica. Now I'll leave the car nicely down at the hut and use those extra few minutes to the starts at Cojzovo and Kamniško for a little warm-up.

Maybe someone will laugh at my idea, but what if you casually took a photo of that "tired" car?

@Irina , taking pictures doesn't help. Those who steal, steal only cash. Zadnjica, Zadnja Trenta, above Kamniška Bistrica, above Jezersko, Rudno Polje, Vrata, Logarska dolina below the waterfall, etc . . . . . . . . for the mentioned locations I definitely know how it is elsewhere, better not. You know, when the police stop suspicious kljukce somewhere near these locations, they can't do anything to them. Because they only have "cash", prove to them that it's not theirs. And so things go their way. Sadly.

Before a multi-day ascent I photo the parking lot. It doesn't hurt at all, photos I delete later. But from own experience, photograph suspicious people more secretly. Police response time is also very long. Possible that you'll bear the costs of their arrival too.

A normal person on this forum writes something nice, that's what the forum is for, not that when I open it I'm immediately in a bad mood when I see IDIOTS were present who don't know mountain beauties and don't know anything else but to complain here.

With taking pictures be really careful. Photographing objects and animals(car, dog,...) might still be allowed, but watch not to photograph people. That can even be a criminal act, such proof at court is worth nothing! Sadly, we live in such a country where thieves are more protected than honest people. Then they hypocritically wonder that people take justice into their own hands,...

Totally cool if you snap some suspicious car. If nothing else, the guy inside will think twice if to go breaking something that day...

Hi, don't want to scare but still. On Sunday we climbed in Mala Rinka and someone loosened 4 bolts on front left wheel of the car. Luckily we noticed before the last one came off, which stayed tight. Obviously this "phenomenon" moves from Ljubljana to more "peaceful" areas too... just for info...

eskubik, what do you actually think it was? Some mischief or wanted to steal your wheels and got disturbed? A bit worries me too because you say Ljubljana phenomenon, I drive there to work and wouldn't want car on blocks

Almost sure not theft - rims not original Saab and worth under 100€/pc. So no security bolt you supposedly unscrew only with attached key. Have 5 same bolts and 4 loose by 3-4 turns, one fully tight. Luckily rattled enough we checked + colleague I called knew by sound right away. Anyway some patients obviously do this, no other explanation. Happened in Ljubljana already (me not yet), reasons dunno, know couple cases from garage houses. Wouldn't think this can happen middle of Logarska. Maybe someone finds "to death" funny if front tire goes on its own...

Happened to me in Vrata. Barrier up and with SUV drove as far as possible. With all gear for climbing welcome shortcut. Less welcome finding some Kljukec unscrewed wheel bolts. Parked most uncultured (if all like that bye peace quiet), blamed myself. Anyway would ask those expressing anger that way to smash windshield future so know at once, not wheel flies over precipice. Logarska got new discipline obviously. Till now mastered license plate thefts. Per police guys sometimes register cars on way home to inn.

These are known examples when scum people are disturbed by the presence of normal people. I don't know what's not clear to them, but I only know they don't have even one clean one in their head, let alone five. Gang All those they plan to pull from Schengen into the inspectorate, let them distribute them to all known trailheads in the mountains. Maybe then something changes. And also that they have all authorities, not limited. Abroad I think such things don't happen. Of course, when they look at a person differently...from the human side, not from the Slovenian.

Oh how well I got away with just raised wipers once, for really awkward parking at the trailhead of Hudičev graben for Celjska koča.

| eskubik26. 06. 2012 19:57:59 |
Yes, raised wipers would be cool, provided I parked weirdly. But I didn't, we arrived when there were less than 10 cars on the parking lot and I just parked next to one, quite normally... Don't know, I now have the key right in the trunk on top, and I'll check the wheels every time I return from a tour. One packs the gear, the other checks wheels - logical end of climbing tour.

They broke into my car on Wednesday at Planina Javornik. The alarm didn't bother them, they rummaged through the trunk too, took nothing, but damaged the door and cut the rubber above the door. So after a successful ramble through Debeli peči and Brda they spoiled our day a bit.

Good thing you didn't find the car on bricks .

Even worse if they forget the bricks at home

Are only higher class cars in danger or do they go after "POOR ONES" too? Maybe those who push too high with cars, maybe those who don't respect private property? Just asking, thank God, no such experiences.
