Another great hike from starting point Stržišče via Rodica to Črna prst, one of the nicest circular trails I've walked under 2000m. If you don't know if the path is suitable for you, I've recorded it completely and you can perhaps help yourself with the recording.

Today Črna prst via Žleb

By train to Boh. Bistrica and straight along the road to Raven. From there on the normal path to Orožnova hut, where I snacked. Continued on footprints that went along a cross path, which ended after less than half an hour. So I had to break trail myself and went too high on the slope (if going in the next days better not follow my tracks). Snow was dry and sinking 30 cm, until the last 100m of the gully where it was windpacked and hard. Summit sunny and windy, lower down already almost t-shirt weather. Returned to Podbrdo where I had to wait another 2 hours for the train.

Park in Kal village. New snow starts around 1300m, above monument old hard snow appears. Crampons on and straight up steep grass to ridge. Then big couloir, above shelf where windblown, ahead hard to top. Cold, windy, good views. Descent down valley, hard snow all way.

Yesterday to Crna Prst past Orožnova hut. Path ok, muddy in places.
Hut at Crna Prst open, few people. Flowers waking, in 2 weeks more rhododendrons.

Yesterday Četrkovci -retirees section PD Škofja Loka did most demanding tour this year to Crna Prst from Bača start. To start where macadam ends two 20-seat vans drove us. Scouting checked road ok. For such accesses always check before. Takes time to top Bača -not real top. Then marked path to Crna Prst good 3 hours. Well marked -hard to stray. Ends steep switchbacks to saddle before Crna Prst. Sides overgrown -watch not to slip from narrow path into high vegetation. Saddle then pleasant 20 min to hut Crna Prst. Surprised almost no blooming flowers. For more month earlier. Long break at hut for beer coffee. Then down Orožnova hut hot meal. Warden Franci good stew. Many foreign hikers at hut. Down to road Snežna konta. Vans picked us. Clear blue sky -beautiful clear views far. For such tour good scouting and alt routes. Leaders always do. Waiting list tours. In 4 days Raduha. Then ferrata Doberšnik Jesenice. Scouting 2 months ago too much water. Repeat week before if not. Else alt Austria all easy Slovenia done. In month 2-day Cres island. Already looking forward.

Crna Prst and Rušni vrh

Yesterday nice interesting tour to Crna Prst from Benetke. Cars park Bohinjska Bistrica train to Podbrdo. From there saddle Čez Suho on to Crna Prst. After long top break down saddle to nearby Rušni vrh.
Descent to Orožnova hut Planina Za Liscem. Path to Crna Prst from start very steep. To Orožnova hut very slippery, great caution no slips.

(29.10.2024) Train morning to Bohinjska Bistrica. Still under impression of rattle under train wheels where roe deer sadly ended, ran across track in dark. Continue known path to Orožnova hut. Part of path we decided to go by road. They put new signs along path. Chatted with Franci, drank tea and continued on somewhat middle path to Crna Prst. Path unknown to us. 2 years ago via Lisec. Quite steep all the way to top. Top pleasantly warm. Almost no wind. Sun warming summery. Behind us came hut warden of Crna Prst and said he will pack all benches into hut. Soon worse weather. Descent past planina za Črno goro or Ravharska planina. Saw on descent channels for water drainage which floods in rain and runs into Bohinj tunnel. Hindered rail traffic. Few years ago walked rail tunnel Bohinjska Bistrica to Podbrdo though no recent rain, there was some water in tunnel under track. Tour went well though part of path muddy and had to step carefully. Our train 15 min late, not much. Walked about 17 km and 1300 m elevation gain.

On Crna Prst, above the tree line hard, icy snow appears, only crampon points grip, some wind-blown snow too; met two who were right ahead of me on the summit. Conditions were demanding, strong gusty wind, cold, waited in bivouac, to the summit just up and down because everything around me started freezing. I was fully equipped, with helmet and winter gear and thicker gloves. Found two poles below the saddle and brought them to Kal. They are hanging on the signpost.

Not in the village Kal, but at Kal (Kalarsko sedlo).
