In winter no problem to reach Orožnova hut, it was also open on weekends, don't know how it is now. Further it's quite steep and exposed, but there's also an easier path more to the right, looking from the hut upwards. We reach the Bohinj-Tolmin Mountains ridge a few minutes walk from Crna Prst towards Vogel. Best to ask Franci, the friendly caretaker of Orožnova hut.

From Kal to Crna prst, just below the summit a small avalanche triggered a bit before my arrival. Since grass was sticking out I went up there with crampons and ice axe. Warm, and little wind, met Blaž too. At the top took off crampons as no ice anywhere. Waited a bit after sunset for snow to stabilize, then quickly descended back to start.

Yesterday we were completely alone on Crna Prst. On the path from Kala nobody has walked for some time, as there were no visible footprints in the snow.
Above approx. 1250m frozen snow starts in the forest, partly covered with wind-blown fresh snow, so crampons and a lot of caution are needed already there. On some sections there's only frozen crust, under which is unprocessed fresh snow.
Higher up no issues, just on steep grass below the summit real caution is needed - but snow holds well. Full winter gear obligatory.
Yesterday we had proper frost most of the time and very strong wind carrying snow.

From Podbrd it's a nice tour. Sign says three hours fifteen. We took four hours. Without rushing. In dry conditions another hour walk to Orožnova hut from Crna Prst summit.

Count 6h total, if you start at the train station in B Bistrica and descend to Podbrd on the other side. Recommend a bit later when mainly all primroses are blooming and a bit below the summit like in paradise garden
