Kal - Crna Prst - practically no snow. Watch out a bit for young adders, yesterday I met two of them. The path further to Rodica is snow-free only up to Matajurski vrh, beyond that still fully winter conditions.

At least twice a year I visit Crna Prst. I drive to Orožen hut via the upper path. For that forest road you need a good car. At the start now surprises a red sign on the rock that parking is not allowed. In fifteen minutes I was at the hut. I stopped for currant strudel on the way back. Nice to chat with the caretaker. I know him from Ledine. The botanical path was marked a good week ago. We'll find even blooming columbine. One blooms right by the path and is marked. In under an hour I was at the top of Crna Prst. Currently nothing blooming under the hut. There's a large stand of silver mountain avens there. Found a blooming one by the path behind the hut. Continued to the foot of Matajurski vrh. Caution needed, as the path is in places exposed and gravelly. On that nice grassy meadow under Matajurski vrh I find orchids. This year too early for orchids. They'll bloom in three weeks - not before. Found only their leaves. First time spotted Triglav avens in the scree of Četrta. Of course photographed them from afar, climbing to them too dangerous. Met hikers all along the path. New caretaking team at Crna Prst, got the apple strudel hot - just baked. On nice days worth going at least to Crna Prst. To Rodica another three hours or so.

Yesterday at Crna Prst from Ravne village.
Stop at Orožen hut and on to the summit.
For botany enthusiasts now is peak blooming season.
From Crna Prst we descended further west to the ridge leading to Lisce (Kozji rob), before Lisce down the path back to Orožen hut, so made a small loop.

Despite the warning that a lot of snow had fallen in the mountains and avalanche danger is level 3, I head from Kala to Crna Prst. Prepared to stop and turn back easily if needed, but there was little snow. Three were already ahead of me up there. I used crampons and ice axe preventively.

Today members of Slovenian Mountaineering Club Skala hiked nice circular path past Orožnova hut to Crna Prst. Descent via unmarked path to Lisec and from there past Orožnova hut to starting point. Still quite some snow. Crampons come in handy.

Yesterday we climbed to Black Finger from Orožnova hut, but this time a bit differently. We did a circular tour planned since first visit to Lisec six years ago, so over Kozji rob (kozje robe, probably more correct).
At the hut we hesitated what to actually do, as no improvement in the weather was indicated. We said, at least to Lisec, so at least something. But not all is in views, flowers by the path and birds chirping also count. And pleasant conversation partner on top and quickly we decided to extend anyway to Black Finger. Really beautiful loop worth repeating soon.

From Orožnova hut we returned also a bit differently, through Snežena konta. A view on snow was promised, but unfortunately already melted. But it was another loopnasmeh.

Yesterday we visited Crna Prst, although the highest peak on our route, of more peripheral importance. The main goal was to circle Kontni vrh and Rušni vrh. Well, we also stepped onto the top of Rušni vrh, but the top of Kontni vrh will need some more studying. But we saw some optionsnasmeh. Yes, along the way we also went to the pasture Za Črno goro, where both of us were there for the first time. It would be a shame to miss it. Here I was looking for traces of the path that takes you to the top of Črna gora, but I saw nothing. Maybe I looked too poorlynasmeh. Anyway, there's still plenty of work here.

We started and ended the tour in the village Kal, which together with neighboring Stržišče always impresses. We were there in the afternoon sun, when it was just taking leave, and we agreed that there was really a beautiful day behind us. Shame, because the days are already shorter.

Is Crna Prst also such a popular destination in winter as in summer? If someone goes from Bohinj direction, e.g. past Orožnova hut, can they expect a heavily trodden trail, or not?
