Here, I also climbed to Crna Prst, along the resinous and flowering path from Raven past Orožnova hut to the top. Beautiful! In both huts, at Planina za Liscem and at Crna Prst the caretakers/staff are so incredibly friendly that one just wishes to drop by again nasmeh

The rocky part below the summit nicely rounds off the pleasant path

Enka, you won't believe, I've been planning the ridge path for some years, but somehow haven't managed yet. mrk pogled

If you really go on that nice tour I wish you a wonderful day, lots of nice shots and of course safe steps. Treat yourself to the sausage too, you'll have fairly earned it velik nasmeh

Today we didn't tackle Crna Prst exactly along the ridge, but chose an interesting variant via Planina Osredki, Žalostnica to Konjski vrh.
We drove along the upper road nearly a kilometer beyond the parking area where you go to Orožnova koča. First we visited Planina Osredki, then right on the path leading to Ventje and Planina Poljana. After half an hour of walking we left the path and climbed the hunter's path into the Žalostnica cirque. Snow lies there long every year and this year too. Then we ascended pathless to Konjski vrh, where we reached the Vogel - Crna Prst traverse.
Along the traverse then to Crna Prst, down to Orožnova koča. Thus we completed a nice loop. Above Orožnova koča we hung some more plaques with flower names along the botanical path.

I'm also planning a crossing from Vogel (Merjasec hut) to Šija then Rodica, Crna Prst and then on to Soriska Planina. The car would be waiting for us there. Does this seem too demanding a hike to you? I figure it would take over 6 hours. Has any of you already walked this route?

janina5 I don't know how fast you walk, but for just over 6 hours I think you need to go pretty fast. Just from Vogel to Rodica is marked about 3h, further to Crna Prst I'd say around 2 hours, Crna Prst - Vrh Bače also about 2 hours, and then another hour to Soriska Planina. Especially from Rodica to Crna Prst interests me too, what time it takes at moderate pace. Otherwise I'm planning the route in the opposite direction. From Soriska Planina to Vogel.

From Crna Prst to Rodica it's marked 3 hours, same from Vogel to Rodica. From Crna Prst to Soriska Planina it's marked 4-5 hours (at Crna Prst it says to Vrh Bače 3 hours).

I walked a good 10 hours from Merjasec to the hut on Crna Prst.

About 10 years ago I did the tour: Bohinjska Bistrica - Crna Prst - Rodica - Vogel - down Žagarjev graben to the lower cable car station. The route took approximately 12 hours including all breaks. But note that I was in exceptional condition then. Hope this helps. Best regards

It helps, of course it does. Every opinion helps me decide more easily. I've now realized it's about 10 hours of walking and from Crna Prst to Soriska there are quite a few descents and ascents. Given that I have quite a bit of knee pain issues, I'll probably go from Crna Prst straight to Bohinjska B.

you'll walk plenty on that mentioned tour...with breaks it's a full-day hike...in the sun pay attention to enough fluid in the backpack...nice day!

I'm interested if the path from Vogel-Rodica-Crna Prst is passable, because a while ago I heard it was damaged?

4.07.11 from Soriška planina ski center to Crna Prst with the dog.
On the path you only need to watch out on the ridge towards Kobla summit, where the trail is close to the edge of the deep Baška grapa, but due to high grass you can't see exactly where the edge is. The dog must be on a leash in that case, although it already has plenty of experience with hiking in the mountains, but you need to watch so it doesn't pull you somewhere. It was humid, foggy on top. Walking about 4 hours one way. Met only a group of Englishmen and Czechs.
Every summer trip to the mountains with the dog should be in the morning hours, so you're already returning after 10.
Writing a bit late for current conditions, because lightning destroyed my computer and printer, and nothing could be repaired. l.p.

Yesterday 15.07.2011 at 21.00 there was a Night hike by full moon to Crna Prst, organized by PD Podbrdo. The path led us from Kal with PD guides Marino and Bogdan. Unfortunately clouds covered the moon, but that didn't take away the pleasant atmosphere and willingness. Below the summit it was lightly windy and fog awaited us. The hut keepers welcomed us nicely and treated us to goodies. After an hour of pleasant atmosphere the path led us back to the valley to the starting point, which had to be done with a bit more caution, as the rocks and roots were slippery on the descent. The moon didn't fail us either, as it peeked out from under the clouds a few times.

A little before seven started from Ravan towards Crna Prst past Orožnova hut. To the top exactly 2 hours, nice views also to Italian mountains, not too far to the Primorska side. Soon fog rolled in from the Primorska side, which quickly drove us back to the valley on the same path. We met quite a few hikers. In the valley the sunshine welcomed us and accompanied us home mežikanje
