Saturday-30.7. the path to Crna Prst also tempted me; start according to forum description; to the hut it was even a bit slippery in the forest on rocks, from Orožnova hut onwards good grip; along the path cloudiness accompanied us most of the time, while our »očak« watched over us all the time and gave us will, despite realizing that views from the top would be poor; last 15min from the "saddle" fog appeared, especially more on the south side towards Porezen (saw it briefly), on the north side though, as if cut off without »fog curtain« - yes, views to Julijce and over Dovška baba, Golica to Stol and Vratača.. beautiful On top a few hikers (also the previous one), a bit windy, but not too much; conditions in pictures, which due to cloudiness, unfortunately, worse

@pohodnica53 I think you should go to Crna Prst at the beginning of July or end of June, to experience its "flowering" charm.

otiv@ thanks; I'll take your tempting advice into account on the next visit; a few years ago I climbed from Bača pod Brdo, but late autumn, so next time really need to go in flowering months; regards

A really pleasant undertaking was to Crna Prst from Kal, only the wind was a bit naughty, but that has to be sometimes, and on top a beautiful view of Julijci and Bohinj Lake is offered.

Stržišče is a nice, quiet village, with a church on a hillock that immediately catches the eye, then the village Kal where the path to our planned goal began.
A pleasant, fresh but sunny morning awaited us. When we just stuck our nose out of the car, we shook a bit and laughed heartily when a friendly villager in shorts came from the neighboring house, invited us for coffee and the day got the scent of morning coffee.
After refreshment we set off on the path, first to the end of the village, then on a wide forest road, which narrowed as the ascent began. The path is well marked and visible all the time. Then the forest ended and brought us to nice grassy slopes, all the way to the top.
The wind accompanied us slightly all the time, on top it was quite cold, on the way back it strengthened.
But despite the wind my desire that the view would reach our most beautiful peaks was stronger. On top we met some visitors too, then we performed the ritual as instructed.
We spent a beautiful day, we were a good, smiling and pleasant company

Today with Luna probably the only one, to Oražnova at least from road lots of newly fallen trees, climbing needed, detours Further from Pl. to Lisec then another 100m bp after, first mud, snow, ice...  anyway crampons desired... that would be drytooling  on ridge and already before surprise hurricane wind gusts at least 70 to 100 kmh. Occasionally crouched with Luna and held her so she doesn't fly away...  At top at least 10 sec for photo, then to woodshed of hut to warm... down through really thick fog bp , if you know the path... past Orožnova, again over trees, no visitors, Luna happy, anyway super day, no predicted hoar frost, wind per forecast up to moderate, would be really almost discouraging...

On S side about 30-40 cm dry with slight crust on hard snow base, for trudging... from Orožnova not compacted trodden, I trampled almost to wall, then changed mind and went better to ridge of Črna gora... Laughter starts at road and icy to Orožnova, further dry...

yesterday we were on Crna Prst from Stržišči direction. Snow starts soon after saddle below Kolarsko brdo at height ca 1200-1300 m. Mostly snow is icy but still no major problems reaching saddle below Crna Prst. From saddle to top recommend crampons.

No way from Bohinj, snow sinks to your ass, extensive windblown snow areas too!
Recommend from Kal, conditions OK.

After long time back in Baška Grapa. Start village Kal and slowly to Crna Prst. Path dry to saddle where paths from Bohinj side join, above saddle little snow or windblown, easily avoided, no winter gear needed. Completely different on northern Bohinj side where still winter conditions. Summit lonely today, neighboring peaks deserted too...Nina&Aleš
