Črna prst

Today the path was normally passable. You step on snow three times for a couple of meters, two of them still down in the forest. Snow is soft and you can cross without problem. But right below the hut there's still a larger snowfield, about 15 meters wide, where a bit more caution is needed.

Today on Črna prst from Kal. At 6 am it was still raining, then a great day came. It was humid, but luckily windy on top and easier to breathe. Praise to the new caretakers at Dom Zorka Jelinčiča, who are really friendly. Flowers in full bloom. No special features on the path nasmeh

Today we maintained the botanical path from Orožnova hut towards Črna prst.
Then a quick jump to the top of Črna prst.
Thanks to the caretaker of Orožnova hut for kindness and service, also we were exceptionally well received by the new caretakers at the hut on Črna prst.
No snow on the path from Bohinj side anymore. There's still a small snowfield at the end of the botanical path, but not steep and can be bypassed.

On Saturday after some years again on the botanical path to Črna prst - repeat some names and learn some new... mežikanje

Yesterday I went to Crna Prst for the first time this year, which I do at least once every year. Since I figured out the upper forest road by which we come from Bobinjska Bistrica past Namški Rovt. To the starting point for planina Za Lišcem we have about eight km of gravel and in half an hour we are at Orožnova koča and in a good hour then at the top of Crna Prst. This time it only went to the left junction, which leads to Soriska planina. At the intersection there was a barrier due to timber hauling and I walked the gravel for a solid hour. For the first time I took the first entrance to Orožnova koča - through Snežna konta. This path is as long as the other one, only steeper and quite stony. Yesterday it was still slippery and muddy. But it is marked and cleared of tall stalks that grow along the path. So in half an hour we are at Orožnova koča on planina Za Lišcem. This year a nice herd of cattle is grazing there. The planina is therefore pasture and alive. The koča is managed by a friendly guy who previously cared for the koča on Ledine. He also organizes music events here. Then follows the path along the botanical path and towards the top of Crna Prst. In a good hour we are at the koča. Both koče have lots of visitors. Then I head to the valley by another path. I go past planina Za Crno Goro and thus reduce the walking to the vehicle by half an hour. The weather was nice, lots of flowers still.

Quite a significant descent is completed.

Crna Prst today, 19.12. We took the train to Podbrdo. Slavko from Baška Grapa was with us. And at 9.30 in the morning we set off for the mountain. Time was just enough to catch the train a bit after 17:00. It is really nice like in old times when you sit in a heated wagon and the train departs. We didn't meet anyone. There is also little snow below the summit for December. We didn't need winter equipment. Still, it is better to have it with you, because on the ridge it was icy in places. The bivouac is open and it is good to warm up in it because at the hut it was cold and windy.

I'm curious about the path? Are crampons needed or possible without? Path Podbrdo - Crna Prst.
On the website I saw that the hut on top is closed?

I looked today towards Crna Prst. Southern slopes look bare, maybe a patch of snow right before the hut. The hut is still closed for now, yeah.

Today walked the Kal-Crna Prst path... the path is completely bare. The hut, I think, officially opens tomorrow (already today one could drink something).

Yesterday from Ravne past Orožnova koča to Crna Prst. Path to Orožnova koča without issues, from there to summit Crna Prst still one snow patch, passable without crampons in soft snow but needs good caution, so who does not feel good on snow should take crampons. True, in this weather snow won't last, so in a week or two the path will be normally passable. Hut on Crna Prst officially open since yesterday all days of the week until end of September.

Well, to sum up. On Saturday from Podbrdo it was completely bare, hut open, day super for walking.

Sunday hot summer day perfect for trip to Crna Prst, but the drive to the start in Kal seemed more strenuous than the path itself. First half of the path in forest shade provided pleasant temperatures, higher up there was just enough wind that a very relaxed atmosphere prevailed at the hut and no one seemed to be in a hurry.

Since I was already there, I quickly went to Rušni vrh, then walked along the scenic path under the ridge for about 45 min to the next peak (Četrt, 1.831 m). Due to the late start, it was unfortunately already time to turn back to the valley. Since maps show some paths lower under the ridge, I toyed with the idea of finding a nice crossing and going down a shortcut directly, but finally decided on the return over Crna Prst on a somewhat longer but impeccably maintained and marked path.

Already at the saddle, on the other side Triglav shows up first of course. Despite high temperatures it is visible that there is still snow in many places.

Soon it will be 100 years since the erection. Sometimes when thinking about the fate of Trst, Gorica, Istria, Koroška... we forget that it could have ended much worse and the border could be elsewhere than today.

I find the mountain flowers very beautiful, but unfortunately I have no idea what they are. The botanical section of hribi.net will tell. :)

Sl.6-very nice, but on certain sections also very dangerous. There have already been accidents with fatal outcomes.

Afternoon to Črna prst from Bohinj side, took half litre of water, frutabela and camera, didn't miss or need anything else. For shorts and short sleeves. First to Črna prst, then continued to Rodica and soon turned right downhill, there along slope/ridge to Lisec. Some rain and wind for cooling, wasn't cold. Cleared up at the hut. Road to start point solid drivable. Speaking of road from Soriska planina ca 2km down towards Bohinj and turns left, but pretty long.

Yesterday after work to Crna prst.
This time via planina Osredki.
After the rain from the previous day the path was quite muddy and slippery. Above the planina it was better.
Otherwise flower hunting.

Not to open a new topic: today we were on the western neighbour of Črna prst - Konjski vrh.
The weather forecast that it would be clear in the west in the morning didn't come true today. Obviously the Bohinj mountains weren't far enough west for nice weather zmeden

Anyway, as usual via planina Osredki then along the hunter's path towards the saddle Žalostnica. Today its name really fitted well, as visibility was perhaps 10 m due to fog.
We climbed to Konjski vrh more by feel. We thought we'd reach the forepeak via pathless slopes but we ended up on the summit itself. The idyll on the ascent was spiced by sleet from the stubborn fog.
On the summit it was no better, (sleet joined by wind), the same on the magistrala Črna prst Vogel. We bypassed Četrt along the magistrala and at the lowest point between Četrt and Črna prst descended pathless back to Osredki.
Good mood despite the weather was not lacking, and as usual we still managed to hunt for alpine flowers.
