Drago, don't fear the years, up to 80 we'll still climb some fours and cross some ridges. If I only have some genes from my grandfather, who at 85 mowed steep meadows better than I did back when I was a youngster.

What are the snow conditions like on Pokljuka? Is it possible to drive by car towards Medvedova koca, or only to the cold spring? Planning Debela peč namely.

I haven't heard yet that in winter one drives higher than Kranjska pl. or at good conditions at most to Pl.Javornik and wakes bears and roe deer. For that legs with snowshoes or skis are there. With this nature rests and offers the smart mountaineer all winter charms.

Lots of visitors at Blejska koča. We broke trail to Debela Peč, Sandra, I think we met, we were 3.
Road to NOB monument plowed and normally drivable.

Today we used the day to visit Debela Peč. Started at pl. Javornik around 8.30 at -13, but no problem, we warmed up quickly. Path great all the way (season appropriate), sinks in places but no issue. Nice views, nature was really calm and quiet, no wind. Met 6 more hikers. Conditions for visit are ideal now. Blejska koča is also open.

Yesterday on a beautiful Saturday morning to Debela peč. Start at Mrzli Studenec, turn right on forest road. Of course not plowed, at least it looked that way. It was driven on. Tire tracks just deep enough to drive. Frozen. If more snow falls, driving on this road won't be possible anymore. Go to parking at Pri Rupah-somehow cleared, space for about 10 cars. Then right past NOB monument on cart track or forest path to planina Lipanca. Planina Lipanca all in sun. From there to target Debela peč. Path trodden all way, not icy. Recommend crampons, especially needed right before summit of Debela peč. Views were something special-let pictures tell. On way back obligatory stop at Blejska koča for hot tea and košutnik.

After the first more serious ascent there is a path junction.

From here a view back to planina Lipanca.

The track is clearly visible on the entire path.

A beautiful sunny morning delighted with magnificent views.

Just before Debela peč there is also the peak Okroglež-1965m - the path passes below it.

It was necessary to make a little more effort for the summit.

Also 7.12.2013 was a beautiful day on Debela Peč. From main road on Pokljuka, via planina Zajavornik to Lipanca and from there over hills to summit Debela Peč. Frost and winter on Pokljuka in full glory, cross-country ski season already in full swing and nicely groomed tracks. Path to Debela Peč without issues - well trodden trail, some fallen trees, recommend at least microspikes - already to Lipanca helpful for relaxed step, last ascent is quite compact hard so even more useful there, especially for descent. View beautiful but slightly worse than midweek. Quite a lot of visitors, plenty of snow too.

On Wednesday snow hardness on Debela peč already softened. Below summit ice axe useful for descent. Very few people, day gorgeous.

Path to Debela peč and Brda well trodden, so on Friday 13.12.2013 there was no sinking. Crampons stayed in the backpack. From Pokljuka over both summits to Blejska koča I met only one hiker. Day......gorgeous.
