Pure unplanned wandering on New Year's Eve day. From the monument to Blejska koča and to Debela peč. Road to start point drivable without chains, ascent to hut easy, to summit small ice patches under fresh snow, crampons almost unnecessary. A bit of sun, a bit of clouds and a bit of wind. Since the year will be long and tough, we need to start training right away. Conditions described above; for today I'll add that the weather for this season was a dream, hot on sunny slopes, barely breezy even on the summit. Despite the late hour (for me) no crowds, friendly New Year wishes with a stranger on the summit. Only on the return after 12 hours did I meet more people. Today without crampons, no sinking, no crowds, views though.. picture postcards. We've started well!

Today nice weather, but summit honestly windy. Some dared and put on skis, but path has quite some stones and branches.... Below summit all snow blown off.

Was anyone at Lipanca today, or towards Debela peč and Brda? What's the status of the new snow and road passability to the monument or to Planina Zajavornik?

Hi Laščan, I was on Mrežcah today. Went on foot from Šport hotel so don't know about the road. Several cars parked before pl. Zajavornik so probably no road problem (not 4x4s). Path nicely trodden to Blejska koča, and further to Mrežc nice walking, path trodden. Towards Debela peč similar conditions, at least heard from hikers in the hut. New snow barely 1cm, just covers ice below so recommend crampons whatever you have. Also encounter wind crust or smooth hard snow on path. Today few people here, such nice day. Regards

Regarding info on road passability to parking at Planina Zajavornik, here's this. I parked today along main road at intersection by Šport hotel, where you turn to Blejska koča, but mentioned parking lot and one at monument were fully occupied. On Lipanca talked to couple from Gamelj, they said road from Mrzli studenec is "normally" passable, for the season of course. That's all I can help. Otherwise today gorgeous weather here and pretty good views.

Really good pics, Aleksandra. I'm impressed by the pan-pics, I make them too, I'm curious (if it's no secret), which program do you stitch them with?

skalaš - you make panoramic pics with a camera that has the panorama option, because it actually shoots the pic, then I don't process them at all - just stitch them... only fix the light when the weather is not ideal.
