With touring skis it was a bit harder today, because the track was mostly hard packed snow, at least to Lipanca. Further to Debela peč some south-facing snow, some crust, some icy patches. The top of Debela peč was partly windblown and bare. Descent back wasn't exactly enjoyable, as snow type varied a lot. No crampons needed for the summit. But the day was sunny and views really beautiful.]]>

A few years ago I went on this tour with my wife and both daughters. I remember it well, because the little boy of my older daughter and I had to change shoes halfway because I had just new gifted ones for the round anniversary and they started blistering terribly. We walked an eternity, which is usual for a group. But we had a good time. We rested surely ten times. Well, despite the winter greeting, that cvišč and also the rock ptarmigan didn't disappoint! Today I did the tour from Planina Javornik to Debela peč, Brda and via Lipanska vrata to Blejska koča. Nice tour, due to early start, except the hut keeper, I didn't meet anyone up to the top. Weather excellent, so I was grinning in the sun looking at the fog in the valley. But on the top there was quite a strong wind. Views from the top excellent. Path in good condition and excellently marked. On the way back I met a ton of people going up, especially below Lipanca. And praise to the hut keeper for the excellent potica.

On Saturday 2.7. in the morning we decided on a hike to Debela peč, because good weather was forecast until afternoon. For starting point we chose planina Javornik, which we also checked out at the end. The path to Blejska koča was partly muddy, but very nice because of the forest which is different from elsewhere. Blejska koča and surroundings nicely arranged. On Debela peč cold wind was blowing so we soon decided to leave and continue to Okroglež and also to Brda. When weather started worsening we descended quicker path to the hut and then to planina Javornik and to monument Pri Rupah. We made good use of sunny morning, because in valley rain was already falling. Nice regards

All-day tour, magically beautiful and pleasant. Sheep, alpine flowers and scents, peace, high traverse from Viševnik to Lipanca unforgettable. I skipped Debela peč this time. Only annoying is the return on the forest road back to Rudno polje (about 4 km). Highly recommend and wish happy path, Nadja

Super, Nadja - thanks for the reply. Still, I'm interested whether the whole path is marked, and how it would look to Debela peč as well?? Namesake

Paths are mainly marked, just need to know where at junctions. From Viševnik to Srenjski preval (direction Mali Draški vrh), then right past Selišnik(ov) and Debeleg vrh to Mrežce. Continue on partly secured ridge to Lipanski vrh and further to, or past Brda to Debela peč. Return to Lipanska pl. to Blejska koča, from where you return to valley first towards Medvedova konta, then from path turn right twice: 1.-monument, 2.-Rudno polje. For the last (and also the rest) read the path description in reverse: Rudno polje - Blejska koča na Lipanci.

Heinz you are the king... even greater if you tell me rough hours, so we know (more than us are going) to organize a bit...and one more thing..suggestion please.. is it better via Lipanca to Debela peč and Viševnik (descents etc.) or first Viševnik and Debela peč..

You avoid the long road walk if you start from Lipanca (not Lipanska planina, locals go to Lipanca, not on Lipanca, hence "from") slightly uphill on the path towards Srenjski preval. After about 15 minutes a marked path branches left downhill towards Rudno polje. We reach the forest road just before the quarry and to Rudno polje along the road crossing the ski slope, it's not far anymore. Times (more by feel, corrections welcome): RP - Viševnik: 1.5h; Viševnik - Srenjski p.: 30 min; Srenjski p. - Mrežce: 1.5h; Mrežce - Debela peč: 2h; Debela peč - Lipanca: 1h; Lipanca - Rudno polje: 1h; Which direction to take seems irrelevant to me. If in doubt whether you'll manage the whole tour, better start with Viševnik, as you can shorten the tour towards Debela peč at many spots.

On Sunday we did the ascent via the hunter's path from Kovinarska koča to Debela peč. The lower part is a nice walk on the trail initially steep from the hut, higher we traverse under the north face of Debela peč. The trail is easily followable to the exit gully. In the exit gully we bypass the first step on the right, the second step in the direction of the gully. Solid rock allows nice and not too exposed grade II climbing. This is a tour for the soul. Ascent to Debela peč 3 hours, descent via the marked path is strenuous and the real opposite of the hunter's path - 2 hours.
